Just got exempted from jury duty because I asked what Covid mitigations were in place for people who were still taking precautions. Rather than address the problem I was just told I did not have to come in…
20 years from now, Gen Alpha is going to look at us and ask why we pretended that a Level 3 pathogen was no big deal and that we allowed for them to be continuously reinfected with it because the economy was more important than their health…
Went to go visit my grandmother at her nursing home..,I am so disgusted that me and my mom were the only people masking…
NONE of the health care workers were masking…
Just had to end a 15 year friendship due to him minimizing one of my Covid awareness posts.
I swear some of these toxic positivity Covid minimizers are worse than anti-vaxxers…
@1goodtern
That may be true, but their ill treatment of me will not be tolerated and I will continue to cut people out of my life who try to gaslight me or minimize me. If me trying to protect my health activates their shame then that is their problem not mine…
Hearing about so many people dying in their 30s, 40s, and 50s (I will be 40 in December) is so saddening…
Why is no one alarmed at this?!?! Every day I’m hearing of some new middle aged person dropping dead suddenly. This is NOT normal…
Very disheartening when some of my leftist friends interact with and support my Palestinian justice posts but ignore my Covid justice posts…
My leftist friends who engage with both issues, y’all are the real MVPs…
When pretty much all of society stopped masking, I decided that I was going to unfollow all of my Facebook friends who had stopped masking. It looks like I may have unfollowed pretty much all of my RL friends since my FB feed only consists of my Covid conscious friends and pages
@1goodtern
Yes definitely! Sorry if I came off as abrasive. Unfortunately I had to end a 15 year friendship yesterday due to him minimizing my Covid posting so that wound is still a bit fresh.
@1goodtern
Another reason why I keep refusing to submit to this ridiculous narrative that Covid is over. I am going to survive to spite all of these rich assholes…
@MSNBC
Put your money where your mouth is then Senator Manchin. Give President Biden a deadline on when you will be able to deliver those 10 Republican votes since you are such a master of bipartisanship...
@GangstHannah
It has already shattered pretty much all of my relationships but that’s ok! I would rather know the truth about people than be too trusting and naive like I used to be…
@talveon
I live right along the US/Mexico border, and the other day I was watching a Mexican news broadcast and they still had a Covid ticker at the bottom of the screen with Covid hospitalization and death numbers…
@BuDs_UK
I am an educator and I take my own air purifier that I bought with my own money to my classroom. If people don’t like it then too bad. I also continue to mask everywhere I go (especially at work) and if people don’t like that either then too bad…
@Mssarahmssarah
Thankfully, there are still air purifiers in the classrooms that I teach, and I also take my own personal air purifier that I put on my desk. I also have a desk shield and I do not leave my desk area. I still do not get near anybody.
@DrZoeHyde
@MJSmelly
This is why I still practice social distancing everywhere I go, including outdoors! At the park that I exercise at, I go to a secluded section of the park where no one really walks through, and that’s where I do my exercise…
@1goodtern
I feel less safe now with vaccines than back in 2020 without vaccines because at least most people back then gave a shit and were doing their part…
@Mssarahmssarah
I’m a professor in the South (although I am in one of the few blue areas in that region). I still double mask with an N 95 and a KN 95 and I do not take my masks off under any circumstances when I am indoors.
@LordOfTheYeti1
I am an educator and I am still masking while running air filters at full blast and spraying Lysol along with using hand sanitizer and wipes. I will be continuing to do all that I can to keep safe regardless of what others are doing…
Walked 8 miles at the park earlier tonight with an N95 the whole time mostly due to the poor AQI.
I have lost 80 pounds the last several years and I didn’t even feel winded with it on tonight.
Masks don’t harm me but Covid will…
@ibrake4ants
1. Many can’t because their work won’t let them.
2. Covid is far worse than the flu.
3. Living with Covid doesn’t mean ignoring it and pretending it doesn’t exist.
4. Many of us can’t if we are working.
5. No it’s not over.
@GreeneWendy
Someone compared it to being like a ghost. Seeing all of your social circle carry on like as if everything is fine while you are isolating from everyone. This is what a ghost must feel like…
@lyluancake
We have had horrendous air quality in South Texas the last couple of weeks due to agricultural fires in Mexico and Central America with AQI ratings over 150.
Masking has helped me keep up with my outdoor exercise routine on top of also helping with Covid…masks work!!!
@drseanmullen
Why I’ll still be masking indoors at all times from now on regardless of C02 levels.
Better to be safe than sorry since I don’t lose anything by wearing one…
@maskupmama
I am the exact same way! IDGAF if someone’s fragile ego gets hurt. If they infect me and I have to go to the hospital, they are not going to pay for my medical bills…
@chrislhayes
@MeidasTouch
Covid is still infecting people due to the “Vaxxed and Relaxed” policy and repeat infections increase your risk of Long Covid. Also businesses like In N Out are banning employees from masking. Immunocompromised people are at great risk.
@paibangzhu
@zalaly
What happened to this guy? He was masking during the Senate hearing in January. Why the sudden change? I doubt he would answer if called out on it but still I would like to know what changed for him?
I lecture in a mask and my students can hear me just fine! Never understood the “logistical” reasons for why public speakers can’t mask while engaging in public speaking…
@ibrake4ants
If I was given a deal that I would never get sick for the rest of my life but that I would have to mask every time I left my house, I would take that deal in a healthy heartbeat!!!
@1goodtern
I started wearing a respirator as soon as Covid started and I have never stopped! Me and my mom (who also still uses a respirator) are the only ones in our family who have not gotten Covid…
@chantz_y
I still don’t understand why people care so much about what others think of them…
Especially when those people wouldn’t do anything for you if you needed help…
I can’t believe how nonchalant people are about breathing contaminated air.
This goes beyond simply not learning anything the last three and a half years.
Denialism, cognitive dissonance, and toxic positivity are causing so much harm to our planet.
@JeremyFarrar
This is not an apology, since I do not see the following phrases such as, “I’m sorry,” or, “I apologize,” or “here is what I will do to be better in the future.”
@amethystarlight
People need to realize it’s nothing personal. I keep my distance from everyone that is not in my immediate household (thankfully my mom and girlfriend still take precautions and mask up everywhere).
@DissentFu
@salvagingyouth
I am also an educator and I wear a respirator as well as bring my own HEPA air purifiers everyday to my classroom (out of pocket). I will continue to do my part even if no one else is doing theirs (sadly I’m usually the only one wearing a respirator at the school I teach at).
So humanity gave up on Covid because it was too hard to deal with?
Our cavemen ancestors are facepalming us wherever they are now…
Where is our will to survive?!?!
@lyluancake
Such selfish people...and what is worse is that they can't even acknowledge that they are selfish because their cognitive dissonance kicks in...
I'm sure many of these people know deep down that what they are doing is wrong and selfish...
@pot8um
"Your shame is not my problem! Especially when you can stop feeling shame and start doing the right thing!"
- My response to these selfish people that take their shame out on us trying to be responsible...
A couple of my IRL friends have reached out to me in the last couple of days asking about the respirator I use!
In a sea of denialism and minimization there still might be hope!
@lyluancake
Do it! Although a former friend who was minimizing Covid pissed me off today so I may not be the best person to give advice on this right now…🤪
@antiviral_mktng
Exactly why I still wear one every time I am in an indoor setting. Even with HEPAs blasting away at full speed I will not be removing my mask indoors under any circumstances! I don't lose anything by wearing one, but if I don't wear one I could lose everything, such as my health!
In the almost 40 years that I have been on this Earth, I have never heard of anyone saying that they got the flu 5, 6, 7, 8 times in a short amount of time…
SARS-COV2 is beyond sinister…
Just got done voting and I will definitely be voicing my concerns about the lack of SARS - COV2 mitigations at the polling site…
No one should have to risk getting sick to exercise their right to vote…
People getting close to you at the park even though they see you wearing a respirator is so infuriating…ESPECIALLY when you have secluded yourself in an obscure section of the park and they STILL go there when the rest of the park is vacant?!?!
@RealGayArbys
Being a former first responder has really helped me adapt to dangerous situations. Instead of panicking and feeling helpless, I analyze the situation, accept it for what it is, and do what I need to do to keep safe…
@bogiefurret
@BernieSanders
Semantics...he's more of a Democrat in practice than almost anyone in the Congress right now. But sure, let your main hangup about him be that he doesn't have a D next to his name.
@M8Void
This is why I STILL do not get near anyone at all at the park.
I exercise every night at the park and I move away from someone if they are getting near me. I assume that everyone who is not in my household is Covid+.
@StashColTV
I am an educator and I do not take my mask off under any circumstances when I am inside a building other than my home.
My voice is heard just fine even with my mask on…
@myrabatchelder
@nohomelikeplace
And none of that should factor into something as important as a human being’s health unfortunately, because all of those other factors pale in comparison to the sanctity of life…
@iiHeartPolitics
@iseeuliars
Yes your assumption is wrong. I mask because I am able-bodied and do not want to become immunocompromised through infection.
@broadwaybabyto
No they are going to die in a bed with all of their racked up infections. I will be the one to die on my feet exercising at the park in my old age because I avoided as many Covid infections as possible.
@1goodtern
This will go down as one of the most fascinating (and sadly damaging) psychological and sociological studies of human behavior in our species history (if we can survive).
@TheMemeticist
That was the beginning of the end for our relationship because she couldn’t handle the separation for so long even though it was difficult for me to be away from her also. It’s not like she was the only one that missed our company. I missed her too…
@ELHopkins
I’m a teacher and I still mask and mitigate with my HEPA filters. Unfortunately I am usually the only one still using mitigations at school. This is beyond insanity what we are doing to our kids. Plus I don’t appreciate my health being at risk just because people can’t handle it.
@TRyanGregory
@HarrySpoelstra
“What the hell is this?”
“It’s a bout of summer flu.”
“Summer flu?! Summer flu?!”
“It’s Covid! Say it right!”
If you’re a Simpsons fan, you’ll see what I did there…
@MeetJess
I’m flying out to Virginia next week to start my residency for my Ph.D. with my cohort. I am not going to be removing my mask in any pictures…
@a_lil_bow
I am so sorry about this! I go back to lecturing next week and I will be running multiple air purifiers in my classroom while wearing my respirator mask.
I do not understand why professors are so willing to normalize throwing away their health like this…
@1goodtern
Now that I see how selfish people really are, in a weird way it does make it easier to keep going!
I am going to make it through this not only for my own sake but to spite all of these selfish people...
