The birth of Israel was probably one of the best cases for a "nationalism of the oppressed," and it led to exactly this kind of reasoning being used to justify its early crimes, which led to the conflict and repression that now inspire the horrors this person is rationalizing.

You don't get to talk about watering things down to please the regime when you explicitly seek to downplay or deny the plain conclusions of libertarianism for immigration, abortion, sex work, gay and trans children, and any number of things that make conservatives uncomfortable.

We do not throw our heroes under the bus to gain acceptance from the regime. We regard the regime as criminal.

It's still totally unclear to me how much Millei is actually a libertarian and how much of it's just kind of a vibe that he's superficially gone with. (This is an invitation for people with strong opinions to reply.)

Crazy for a union to just tweet out "our members are horrible at their jobs"

This is a 100% correct and admirable approach to intellectual disagreement. It is also flatly incompatible with Caplan's enthusiasm for Chris Rufo, whose entire political program is doing what's described in the first sentence and mocks the attitude in the second sentence.

I don't want to crush, humiliate, frighten, silence, irritate, defeat, discredit, demoralize, delegitimize, depress, frustrate, or ostracize my intellectual opponents. I want to convert them and be friends.

People unironically using "right of conquest" as if it's an actual moral principle rather than just a description of our fallen world is so insane

one of my most full-blown libtard views is that, in the future, images like this will rightly be seen as part of a set with the 1950s ones of white people yelling at black people going to newly integrated schools or sitting at lunch counters

Some folks showed up early this morning and sat on the public benches near the entrance to the House, so Seat 31 has moved. I'm up and ready to work. Plus, I hear stand desks are all the rage these days.

The whole bit about saying someone belongs in prison to express how much you reject them isn't just anathema to libertarianism, it's replicating one of the most *pathetic* authoritarian traits. A moral vocabulary that can only express condemnation with violence is just bland.

@jaredpolis When a lockdown and gun control fanatic implies others are insufficiently libertarian, you're going to get pushback. You belong in a prison cell, not on a Twitter account.

My running theory remains that Thomas Massie, Rand Paul, etc. have taken the message of Trump's success to be that "being stupid as fuck is a winning political strategy." Massie himself nearly said this explicitly with his famous "craziest son-of-a-bitch in the race" line.

Replace the phrase “social distancing” with “social conditioning” and 2020 comes into focus.
