Friends and family of Ventura County Sheriff’s Sergeant Ron Helus gathered at the East County Sheriff’s Station this morning to plant an oak tree in the garden dedicated to his memory. We will never forget you Ron. Rest easy hero.

I was brief by Ventura County public safety leadership about a traffic collision earlier today near Westlake HS at TO Blvd/Lakeview Canyon resulting in severe injuries to 5 patients transported to local hospitals. Heartbreaking. My prayers are with those injured & their families.

Prayers for the family of Zachary. I met them today at the base of Boney Mountain and, as a father of two boys myself, I can’t begin to imagine the grief they are experiencing. HS wrestler, Eagle Scout, avid climber and outdoorsman. He loved life.

It is with great sadness that at about 9am, Zachary Zernik was located deceased in Boney Mountain State Wilderness Park. Death appears accidental. No evidence of crime or foul play. Cause of death will be determined by the ME’s Office. Prayers to his loved ones.

After the conclusion of last year’s election, my political opponents, frustrated at their loss, filed 3 campaign violation complaints against me. Every single allegation they made in all 3 complaints has been dismissed by investigators. Time to move on.
We had a great open house today at Ventura County Fire Station 36 in Oak Park. 300+ people came by to meet the firefighters, touch the trucks, tour the station, & learn about local services, like Athens Waste and Recycling, and VC Public Works, all supporting Oak Park. Thank you
Today, the Board of Supervisors recognized June 6, 2023 as “D-Day Remembrance Day” in celebration of the 79th anniversary of D-Day. We honored the Conejo Valley Chapter of the Military Order of the World Wars with the proclamation for their service to Ventura County’s Veterans.
