A “murder-suicide” is just a murder. I wish my journalist colleagues would get this straight. It’s not justified or leavened by the fact that the perp later killed himself. It’s just a murder. The destiny of the perp is a footnote. What matters is he killed somebody.

On Election Day a year ago, a 63-year-old man was writing political graffiti, some of it anti-Trump, on his outer wall in Tucson. Another man driving by saw it and stopped. The passerby ended up killing him. The killer said it was "the most American thing I can be doing." /1

On Friday, I did something I haven’t done in 25 years — climbed Humphreys Peak, the highest point in Arizona at 12,630 feet. Did it with my son and three friends. The last couple of miles, above the tree line in the volcanic rocks, were really hard for me.

Here's my column from last week, arguing that Gaetz's border theatrics demonstrate why we need to keep DC politicians away from the border. They only go there for the photo ops and to reinforce their pre-existing opinions.

I'd single out @JenAFifield for her work over the length and breadth of this review process. Lots of others did great work, but she did the greatest overall, IMO, and faced down lots of crap in the process.

Been looking for some good news, and this will do: I’m sitting outside a midtown Tucson restaurant on a bench, waiting for a ride. A man parked, went into the restaurant, then came out with a to-go order. He asked me “You good, brother? You need a ride somewhere?” Pretty nice!

I keep looking at this story, checking the @RealMarkFinchem emails and checking the campaign finance reports. Seems clear: He said contributions would pay off campaign debts at a time when his campaign showed no debts and a cash balance. Seems bad.

Whoa there, @dougducey . I know of no evidence that Tucson's increasing violent crime has any connection to the border. It's easy to say because we're sort of close, at 60 miles away, but then why are so many other cities far away having a similar rise?

The border crisis has also led to a drastic rise in crime in our streets. Our sheriffs have to spread their personnel between the border and the rest of their counties, so there are fewer officers patrolling our streets and keeping Arizonans safe. 3/

A DEA agent has been killed, two other officers injured, and a suspect killed in a gunfight aboard an Amtrak train at Tucson's downtown depot. Another suspect was arrested.

JUST IN Democrat @kathyhoffman_az concedes defeat in race for Arizona school superintendent. Republican Tom Horne leads by 8,718 votes w 17,280 left to count. Automatic recount won't change that outcome. Horne regains office he held for 2 terms, 2002-'10.

Crazy thing about Sabino Canyon is that people in Tucson get used to it, or forget about it. I know I do, but it’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve been to. Visited and swam this morning.

Funny to see these stories suggesting that Tucson is overrun with migrants. It isn't. The people in town don't even notice any change in migration. The Border Patrol's Tucson *Sector* is overrun, but that's happening out in the deserts and hasn't affected the city noticeably.

What is the weakness in @JeffFlake that causes him to publicly acknowledge when something is wrong, then go along with it anyway? There's something deep-seated there. It's as if he feels the need to confess before he sins, when he could actually choose not to sin.

Quite a story: @apsFYI cut off her power over $51 in unpaid electric bills. With high temperatures around 105, she died of of the heat. I'll add: That same year, APS' parent company made $511 million in profit.
