Marilyn Mosby’s lawyer said today she was “unaware of the lien at the time of the applications.” @janders5 But Ms. Mosby was at least told of the lien when it was reported on Oct 13, 2020. She then signed & closed on the 2nd property on Jan 14, 2021, and Feb 19, 2021. 🤷🏽‍♂️

I went with Shannon to Housing this morning to help her mom, who is sleeping under the I-83 overpass, to get her housing straightened out — the office was closed. Dozens were there with fixed appointments, papers in hand, at risk of being put out on the streets. Doors locked.

Perkins Homes residents reached out after the city sent notice their water would be shutoff in the middle of a pandemic. They contacted elected officials & media—no one else stepped up. After we spoke up, City officials changed course and delayed this shutoff with no explanation.

For the sake of creating a seductive security deposit option, this bill would unleash a brand new predatory debt product on every renter in Baltimore. This should be an easy veto for Mayor Scott. Stop counting if the Council has the votes to override — just do the right thing.

This is irresponsible. Is the Governor on board? Is the Mayor on board? Is the Police Commissioner? The City Council? Were they even consulted? This does nothing to alleviate the outbreak risks in prisons, which absolutely must be addressed.

UPDATE: Judge Phinn did the right thing, vacated the sentence, listened to the victims, and rejected the plea. Mr. Trent is back in custody, the charges have been reinstated, and a wrong was set right today. So proud of the victims for standing tall.

There have been 999 murders since Freddie Gray’s death. His legacy shouldn’t be a city in crisis. We could’ve set the gold standard for how to investigate in-custody deaths. Instead we saw what not to do. May we learn, rebuild & heal—that is a legacy we can all embrace.
