Learning to code + learning to sell:
Just sold a website service that will cover the next (4) months of my rent. Feeling so blessed right now. I remember living in my car, working as a busboy trying to make enough money to keep my tank full. I legit could cry.

Here is a thread I wrote a few months on Salesforce. Salesforce is a business software tool that allows business to track, operate, and optimize processes. You don’t need to learn to code, you just need to learn how to think about different parts of a business.
You don’t have to learn to code to make a living in tech!
Working with a tech product is a skill within itself. A salesforce certification has an average pay of 75-80k+

I work on my business 1 day/week and my start-up 4 days per week. 1 day working on my business earns me the same as a month of income at my corporate job for the whole month…
Apply your skills…
Really proud of one of my clients passing his AWS cert this month. He had been exploring different roles in tech, got disciplined, and focused on a single path and cert.
Focus on one thing is worth more than scattered attention to many things.

I don’t encourage people who want to get a project management certificate to go on LIBGEN and download the 7th edition of PMBOK for free.

I post this like once a month but,
Coding is not the only way to money in tech. In fact, I think coding will become less relevant as no-code fills in gaps for more basic systems like CRMs and dashboards.
Coding will always be needed, it just won’t look the same.
There is something so wrong and disturbing about our tolerance of homelessness.
There is so much excess wealth,
It’s -5 degrees and the city of NY is paying armed security to force homeless people out of the station.
They don’t care as long as they aren’t in the heat. I hate it

@HowardU
Howard lost a lot of credibility, A LOT. I used to say this is the only place I’d send my next generation. But I think higher education is fundamentally broken.
Most tech work is worth 6 figures, many people have 6 figure or near 6 figure skills, but RARELY do people know how to communicate and market their skills to have their value/worth match their salary.
Everyday is day 0.
Everyday you have to recommit to your journey and purpose.
Everyday you won’t feel like your winning, but everyday is it’s own battle.
I remember learning to code, some days I just didn’t get shit. Other days I was building away.
I’m hype for day 0!
What’s good y’all feel free to follow me. I drop tips, resources and opportunities for people interested in transitioning into tech (regardless of education).
Digital entrepreneurship is so wild. My biz brings me more than my job.
3 yrs ago I was crashing in my bros basement floor.
2 yrs ago I ain’t know shit about marketing.
This month I had my first $3k day.
Skills -> change your life.
I minted my first NFT. I really never share my art. I’ve drawn and painted for years as a way of managing anxiety and mental health.
Feels empowering to add something to the infinite ledger.
IT/Cyber/ Tech roles be making more than some of the actual players lmao.
I tell people an NFL career is 3 years on average. We need to encourage young folks to do the jobs that ACTUALLY pay, not the flashy stuff.
Learning how to build and sell websites means that if I ever need to pay my bills. I can go online find a business with a crappy website, call them, sell a website and have 29 days for the rest of the month to work on wherever else I want to build…
Skills are key.
Woke up to a 5 figure bonus.
Folks really tried to laugh at me when I decided to transition to tech. Even folks who I thought were close friends.
Never allow external voices to deter me.
I come from a gma who used to sell empanadas in NYC.
Thank you God.
How to transition into tech?
1) Find a role title and commit. Find a few open roles and see key skills and experience.
2) Portfolio, certs, courses, and more
3) Network
4) Apply!
5) repeat steps 2-3
The easy part is making a plan, the hard part is sticking to something.

Focus on what matters.
The recession is here and most people will be fired. Black folks will face the worst of it.
Black people in tech have been yelling at the top of their lungs to come join us. Now tech companies are having hiring freezes getting ready for tough years.
The window is closing. 👇🏾
Salesforce jobs are in VERY HIGH DEMAND, a friend of mine is a leader in the industry and tells me that employers are desperate for skilled talent and are being forced to turn to consultants and contractors as opposed to full time employees.

Demand for entry level roles is high, it takes hard work and UPSKILLING. I share salaries to inspire, I just helped a friend go from 70k to 130k.
If you see success as a problem, you need to set your ego aside and embrace a growth mindset. You deserve a fulfilling job too.
My unpopular opinion on the tech industry:
People who just post salaries, certs, and glamorize the money in this field are just looking for clout and to appear rich to those who aren’t in the field. They are not telling newcomers the actual reality of getting into the field
People think I’m crazy when I say I’m retiring at 35, I think their crazy when they want to work passed 35.
I had this goal in mind since I was a busboy at a Dominican restaurant in uptown Manhattan. Before I ever went into tech or read a line of code.

If you sell a product or service, create a customer journey map and identify how to optimize and automate key processes as a way of regaining capacity.
1. Find a role: Review skills, experience, and keywords.
2. Schedule: Have a wkly set of hours to: Network, Upskill and Apply (in that order of importance).
3. New field, new resume: Rebuild your resume and LinkedIn to reflect the new language, key terms, and skills in the field.
