On my 3rd wedding anniversary to my first husband, we didn't do anything. I was pregnant and we had a 2 year old, so we ordered a pizza and stayed home. He said "We'll do it big next year." He died two days later. I always do things big now. You may not get another chance.

It is very toxic to believe that you cannot vent to God. Venting, crying, shaking my fists in the air, screaming to God and having God respond to me with peace and love washing over me is how I made it through my 1st husband’s death. It’s how my faith was strengthened.

My late husband was a musician and minister of music. My daughter (7) who never got to meet her biological father because he died 2 months before she was born just asked me if “praise and worship songs could be written by her.” Her latest song is “The Lord is in Me.” Amazing. 😭
