🚨NEW ANNOUNCEMENT!🚨
Introducing my new business venture, JS Creative Consulting. It’s been a long time coming but I am locked and loaded, and ready to partner with artists and executives to make some magic.
Take a peek
I wish we would all stop underestimating entertainment, how it influences weak-minded individuals, and the implications of that pipeline. The lack of awareness in dressing your child up as Dahmer is off the charts.
Being Black on a roadtrip is one of the eeriest things ever. We can see 400 years of trauma in one road trip. Like… the cotton fields are still here. Acres of cotton. And you just know. You pass certain trees and just feel sick. You cross certain town lines and just get scared.
Please stop with the “he had a big year” bullshit. I hate when NIGGAS play center like that. Bad Bunny literally had the longest running

of the entire year. A LATIN ALBUM ON AMERICAN CHARTS. 13 WEEKS. If there was any album beating Renaissance, it was UN VERANO SIN TI.
Rih will go down as one of the most iconic artists of all time. She has navigated all mediums of art seamlessly. I’m amazed by Rih as a creator and a brand manager. Her ability to innovate herself and her brand is arguably the best I’ve ever seen. Brilliant.

launch in Paris:
Lizzo makes joints that, under censored conditions, can go hard at a middle school dance and that’s been a wide open lane since artists started trying to be “edgy”
Her decision to forsake "pop" commerciality in order to exclusively invest in creating and performing Black sound is probably the greatest risk + pay off we'll ever see in modern music.
We had Janet, Aaliyah, Mya, Beyoncé all at the same time. Multiple Black pop girls all at the same time. Therefore, I’m rooting for Tinashe, Normani, Victoria Monet, & Justine Skye to break all at the same time. Pop, as it stands, desperately needs them…all at the same time.
The fact that a sect of Christians interpreted yesterday’s eclipse as the doom of God and not the beauty and brilliance of God is super telling of how they process the function of God.
The wildest display of justice is that the world knows and pronounces “Beyoncé” with ease now. It’s not that white people “can’t pronounce” your “colorful” name; it’s that they don’t deem Black folks valuable enough to learn how to say that shit correctly. Fuck them.
I liken Drake’s descent into paranoia and misogyny to Kanye’s descent into madness and fame excess. It’s interesting how they’ve used their discographies to timestamp of their spirals.
Beyoncé, Solange, Erykah Badu, Megan Thee Stallion, and Yolanda Adams have crossed genres and pushed musical boundaries while using their platforms to bring attention to social issues impacting their communities. We are so proud that they call Texas home. 🎶

Y'all see the DIVERSE crowd this woman attracts. THAT'S how you measure the weight of a superstar. That's what MJ did. He brought everyone from everywhere together. Diana. Tina. Prince. Whitney. Janet. BEYONCÉ.
That's a SUPERSTAR.
Usher’s ‘Confessions’ is the last R&B album to go diamond (has sold an excess of 10.3m units in the US)
And for that album to be STRICTLY and unapologetically R&B.... really reflects the year called 2004.
Re: Victoria Monet
It’s very clear that VMAs/MTV are catering to what’s pop. They’re not wanting to break new performers, ESPECIALLY in R&B/soul — something that’s been very clear with that specific brand for years. What’s insulting is the excuse they gave her team.
No, it finally humanized their relationship. I stand by the opinion that ‘Lemonade/4:44/The Carters’ is one of the greatest conceptual album trilogies of all time. Bey and Jay got to tell their sides of the story and reaffirmed their union with a reconciliatory grand finale.
I honestly think Black people who make statements like this are the opps. Or they just weren’t alive well enough to experience Michael Jackson. No one will ever be bigger than Michael Jackson. And that’s okay.
If the Emmy’s were fair to Black women comedic actresses:
These three Black women gave some of the best comedic acting and they were paid dust.
Wendy Raquel Robinson for Tasha Mack “The Game”
Tichina Arnold - Rochelle Everybody Hates Chris
Tracee Ellis Ross - Girlfriends
Jonathan is special in a way we haven’t seen in a while. You see his work and quickly understand that it is a calling for him, and honestly, in a time where the arts are used as just a means to an end, it’s refreshing to see someone be intensely upright in making it a calling.
When I tell you... Missy Elliott would beat almost anybody’s ass in a catalog battle. Like. Damn a gender. Missy Elliott is one of the greatest songwriters/producers of all time. Period.
Donald Glover, Issa Rae, & Quinta Brunson are generationally significant. The way they've included and uplifted those who have been under the radar is more than honorable.
Let’s be real... Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is an album that if the artist didn’t want to make a follow up, it would be perfectly fine. Artists kill to have ONE album as brilliant and signature as Miseducation.
I worked HARD for this !!
27 JUMPS and Studied Hard for my Written Exam and Passed TODAY !!
I'm an OFFICIAL A LICENSED SKYDIVER !!
I'm WILDING IN THE SKIES
Said it earlier and I’ll say it again. It is time for Brandy to be honored by musical institutions. R&B, pop, and even alt sounds and looks different without her specific contributions.
I’ll always encourage Black kids to explore the entirety of Black music. As much as they can. Go back decades. Discover and audit the sounds. Study the contexts. Live with Black sound. There’s so much that belongs to us and the babies should know that it’s not just 2 genres.
I think Jazmine Sullivan has one of the most interesting positionings in the music industry. She’s super popping now so most people would think that she’s an artist of this time, but she came up with Jill, Floetry, Kindred, etc.
She’s a veteran.
You’re only as good as your tools. The rappers and producers of the 90s are elite (to me) because of how deep their musical wells go. They got enough of rap to establish their sensibilities but can reference music before the invention of hip hop. Those entry points are limitless.
Nicole is intimidatingly good. Like I’d be nervous to be in a dramatic scene with her because of the tools —written and unwritten— you know she’s going to bring to a scene. All of her work is so lived in
Boyz II Men “Let It Snow” and Donny Hathaway “This Christmas” deserve the same mainstream attention as “All I Want” especially as it relates to Holiday themed songs in the ethos.
The queen of the music industry. She’s the standard that everyone in that room wants to reach but never will. It’s incredible. Her existence in that room is quite paradoxical to the legitimacy of the Recording Academy. Never having that moment in the sun yet being the sun herself
Bey wanted to make an album that honored her gay uncle. In order to do that, she created a spin off on the type of music he introduced her to, which included vogue joints. In order to do that, she featured, sampled, & commissioned LGBTQ talent instead of interpolating everything.
Not gon lie… if you’re looking for sensical and logical, “in love” might not be for you yet. This shit is the most illogical and nonsensical thing…probably, ever. It’ll throw all of your sensibilities out of whack and demand you to just surrender to the ride.
Steve (Blues Clues) was actually super important to us as kids. Him leaving actually sucked. It’s a close second to AJ and Free leaving 106 and Park. Y’all remember that damned episode.
I agree with this. Beyoncé isn’t someone you “relate” to and that’s what makes her who she is. She’s more than a star, she’s magic, and that is a rarity.
