I will never understand why people argue conditioning, and say long bouts is best. Baseball players running miles after practice? You ever watched it? Damn near everything is less than 10 seconds, and all out. How is running 10 miles gonna add advantage?
When an athlete is doing a box jump, the goal isn't fatigue them. You're trying to prime the CNS, or contrast with a squat....why would you think 15 box jumps per set is a good idea?
Its sad that a video that says "fat burning workout" can get unlimited views. But "a 12 week program to help build strength, muscle, and general preparedness" wouldn't even catch a look. The get it quick scheme needs to go fly a kite
You go to college to better your chance of job opportunity, you get certifications to validate what you are aware of. Sometimes you have to throw on peoples backsquat max and lunge it for them to trust you.
I never thought that Olympic lifts in sports would be such an argument, use them if you can coach them and get purpose, don't use them if you don't see a purpose....if i use them and you don't, why would you let it ruin your day? π€·ββοΈ
The high school I went to is giving 2 extra "mental days" for teachers during Thanksgiving and the parents are livid. You go ahead and teach during this time, and teach a zoom WHILE teaching in class. Hound kids at home and in school for work. They deserve it for sure
Why do I do this?
An athlete today did 7 pull ups with his own bodyweight, he was very nervous because the first time he tried a few weeks back, he could do maybe 3. The excitement he sees, is my motivation
So the crossfit gym inside the gym I train at is doing a "Strength and conditioning camp"....day 1 they had them do some testing for beginning and end...burpees in a minute and squats In a minute. Day 2 they had them do "bring Sally up" squats. These are just crossfit people too.
Front squatting this morning, I tried to stop a rep right at parallel to see what it feels like when others do it....probably the most awkward feeling I've experienced in gym. So much more pressure on my knees, no confidence in standing it up
Jokester: "its said that deer can jump higher than most houses"
Me" probably because they have extremely powerful hind legs. Their tendons are definitely the perfect stiffness to jump, and their relative strength is very high.
Them: houses can't jump....
Got christina working some mechanics through her gate cycle. She came to me not being able to walk barely, and now she is beginning to run again! Goals are to compete and dominate in special Olympics again, and we are on our way πͺ
Athletes need to be strong relative to bodyweight. But, they are not powerlifters so sometimes the number on the bar doesn't need to continue to rise. Want another goal? Move it faster than before
You show him doing ladder drills in saggital plane, than him doing a eurostep....do you not realize those aren't even in the same category? LADDERS DO NOT MAKE YOU HAVE FAST FEET
I was just told by a mom and dad, how much I've impacted their sons LIFE, not just performance.....that couldn't be anymore spot on to my goal as a coach.
Gym says that they would let people borrow equipment for home workouts, people took a KB or a set of DB.....me?
1. Squat rack
2. Boat load of bumpers
3. 2 KB
4. Rower
5. Box
6. 2 sleds
7. DB
8. Sandbags
Crossfit coach here, runs a "performance camp" for local athletes. He has such a problem with the amount i know, he won't even ask me to assist in the camp π€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈ
A sprinter in track runs 10-25 second all out bouts, how many other sports "work" is equivalent in time and effort? You never see a sprinter run for miles in their training, why would you for a sport when being fast/explosive is the goal?
Joint angles are a very crucial part of sports. Full ROM is key for developing strength, and athlete health. But you don't jump from a full squat, and you don't sprint kicking your butt.
So today in the gym, I heard a kid say that if you leave the clips off and the weight slides off of the bar its a core exercise as well as a squat....π€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈ
Yall remember the stroke patient I said motivated me by kicking a ball, i was working with? I just got him to walk down the hall for the first time since stroke!!!!

A random gym goer approached me in the gym tonight and ask me how old the kid was I was training 1 on 1. Said, you are doing really good stuff with him and he has gotten alot stronger all around. Im impressed. when someone else notices the kids success, i feel great for the kidπͺ
Training a 5 year old.....we play basketball, we play baseball, we play football.....but we also do obstacle courses, we play hide and seek with nerf guns, and we box. All skills to be a well rounded individual. Simple as that
2 years ago today my mom passed from ALS.....he told me i was special, and the only person that believed in my craziness, when I told her I'm gonna "take over the world." Everyday I work towards proving that to her. RIP
MJ said he played as hard as he could every game, because there might be someone in the stands who has never seen him.
Treat every opportunity like this, blow them away. Whatever it may be
There is constant debate with uni/bilateral exercises on Twitter. I use both, and guess what, it works with what I do. Do I have some athletes who never squat bilateral? Yep, but they also have different issues than others. Just help the athletes get better, and however you can.
Ask yourself if the 30 minutes you try to perfect form is worth it? Athletes move during sport, and adjust with feel. Guve them a few cues and see how they adjust. Learning by doing is our best teacher
If you expect the athletes to show up, and have the mentality that you are wanting out of them....you need to portrait the same mentality as a coach. Lead from front
Had a stroke in March, we have been working 2 times a day since he has been home. Just walked up the ramp into his house. πͺ Don't tell me to stay in my lane.
A special olympics athlete I have, I still remember her walking in the door the first time and she couldnt do it herself. We are making massive progress
The fact that some of the coaches in "strength coach" Twitter argue non stop about the same concept day in and out is wild. If You're in this field and you haven't found out by now that there are plenty of ways to go about training, than just one......you need to open your mind
You know, in a field where you can get the same goal 1 million different ways, there sure are a bunch of arrogant coaches who still have to say their piece on EVERYTHING that is posted. Its sad, it's childish, and makes your view as a person that much worse
I just got messaged by a mom of a kid i train....she just asked me to go and play basketball with him to give a role model in his life. Same mom who fought me to let me train him, talk about a flip the script. Makes me even more motivated
@Mike_Zierlein
Pitchers throw all out, 15-45 pitches an inning let's say, with an average of 30-60 seconds between pitches, depending on game. The energy system they use regenerates around the same time. Why would you run them for stamina when you can get more from more short sprints? 10x40-60m
