If I’ve been quiet lately, it’s because I’ve been busy looking after my newborn son while home schooling my older two, alone, while my husband works in the NHS and lives in hospital accommodation to protect our children.
I'm on maternity leave but this felt important enough to show up for. Today I'm at the EPA testifying against the agency's proposed restricting science policy.

I am so proud of my juniors. A mistake was made (no harm done), they informed me and volunteered to tell the patient. We talked about the factors that contributed to it, acknowledged that to err is human and focused on how we can learn from it and prevent it from happening again.
I am in awe of Ms Jackson’s bravery and selflessness in publishing this letter. The behaviour she reports sounds criminal but due to lack of witnesses, it was the survivor, not the alleged perpetrator, who suffered the consequences after reporting.

Ms Hassan stated that she did not have a choice due to an emergency & that the issue wld not have arisen if childcare facilities were available at Parliament.
People are still being admitted to hospital with covid. Most are unvaccinated.
Vaccinated people are not being admitted with vaccine-related complications. The vaccine is safe and effective.
Covid admissions are now largely preventable - if you get the vaccine.

Doctors haven’t trained for this. This is disaster medicine, field medicine, & combat all rolled into one. I am deeply concerned we will see high rates of PTSD & other mental health issues in the aftermath.
What can we learn from military training & NGOs such as

Whenever I am performing a procedure (whether surgical, or in the lab), I'm always reminded of the people who taught me the technique.
Mentors, trainers, teachers - you may not know this, but you're never forgotten.
Medical organisations are doing the responsible thing and cancelling conferences, despite the cost and inconvenience.
Because they know that social distancing is the best way to avoid overburdening the health services.

This was posted by a male Professor of Computer Science in the US. Sadly a lot of people still think like this. Most other people believe we have reached full equality (or are “too equal”, whatever that is) and no longer need equality initiatives. This shows why still need them.

I voted no, because I like the historical context of losing the Dr title after passing surgical exams in the UK. However I don't think female surgeons' titles should reflect their marital status (unless they want it to) so default should be Ms/Mr/Mx as appropriate.
