This is why responding quickly and precisely to gunfire is so critical. There is no, as in zero of a cogent of an argument to prevent gunshot detection to be used by first responders in order to save lives and protect communities.

How is it that a technology that identifies and alerts on criminal gunfire racially biased? There is no personal identifying aspects associated with the alert; including race, gender, age, height, weight etc. And, Why doesn’t the press, press on that blatantly false claim?

@Andrefor40th @williamrawlss One of many quotes I had in an interview as far back as 2016- “I would strongly suggest that the real magic happens once an agency gets the alert. What do they do with that? Technology by itself can’t defeat gun violence. It requires a much more deliberate and broad strategy.”

Guns are completely unable to shoot themselves. Serial trigger pullers are not deterred by gun control laws nor influenced by entry level jobs paying non living wages. Focused interventions of shooters (not guns) is the only effective means of preventing shootings.

@PeterMoskos Puzzling. I suspect some of the more recent & vocal pushback comes from the delta variant of abolish/defund the police movement. Since the defund the police strategy not going to happen, let’s pick on some of the tools they use - build a narrative of costly, scary & ineffective.

Community gunfire exhibits the law of concentration — in that it tends be concentrated during very specific times, in specific places involving very few specific individuals. This suggests that successful deterrence strategies and interventions are hyper local and bespoke.
