Extraordinary generosity: Residents of #PNG city Lae raise $61,000 for Australian bush fire disaster recovery. In relative terms ... many folk live below the poverty line...this is actually multiple times the donation amount. via @MerimbulaNews

On this day in 1968, Australian sprinter Peter Norman stood in solidarity with American sprinters Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the Mexico City Olympics. The silent protest and civil rights salute on the podium would go down as one of the most iconic images in world sport.

@GreenJ Broadcasters appear to have been intimidated into providing equal time to facts and non-facts, providers of accurate information, and purveyors of frightening rhetoric. Baseless misrepresentation is not the other side of an argument - it is just deceit. Media need to grow up

Surely the ABC could put together a better panel than this to debate the aftermath of the referendum vote. I think they aren't even trying any more. Sad demise of what was once a great platform for debate on serious issues by people bringing new ideas and thoughts to big debates.

"cafe owner Philip" you mean Phil di Bella, who sold his coffee roasting and cafe chain for $50 million to Retail Food Group, custom built a garage to house his sports car collection, and has a New Farm mansion on the market for about $12 million? That cafe owner Philip.
