Probably the most remarkable thing about this walk-off is Ukyo Shuto reaching a sprint speed of 30.4 ft/s (ELITE) and reaching home plate from 1st base in only 10.3 seconds (3.08 seconds from 3rd to home). Most dudes aren't scoring on this play.

It’s not Blake Snell’s job to know what wRC+ is (although it would been nice). HOWEVER it is the job of the announcers to be able to communicate effectively with fans, and not knowing wRC+ as an announcer is flat out embarrassing in 2023.

I love to rip on Smoltz, because he rightfully deserves it. So here’s some tea. I used to provide Smoltz and his broadcasts with data. Smoltz’s group never requested Statcast data because he didn’t understand it. He didn’t understand it because it always said he was wrong😂

Twins hitters saw 18 strikes incorrectly called against them throughout the Postseason, tied for the most. Pitchers had 20 strikes incorrectly called balls, which is the most. In total, they had 38 incorrect calls against them, by far the most. Texas is next at 27. Yikes🤖

Domingo German is throwing harder since he was told to wash his hands off by the umps but his spin rates have dropped significantly. Were up to: - down 100 rpms on his curve - down 182 on his sinker - down 65 on his 4-seam - down 74 on his changeup this isn't "fatigue"

There's a very small but telling detail on which pitch Hunter Greene is going to throw. It seems as if he puts much more effort into throwing his four-seam compared to his slider. Rays probably caught onto that as he wasn't racking up whiffs on the fastball (0 whiffs on FF).

Lol Sasaki's metrics indicate he could probably be any MLB team's ace right now. Above avg carry fastball with elite velocity (ex: Jhoan Duran's fastball but better). Demon splitter (ex: Shohei Ohtani's splitter). Gyro pitch that's classified as a cutter (ex: Ohtani's cutter).

Here is a good visual of why throwing harder is beneficial. Two things really stand out here: 1) The harder you throw, the more whiffs you will get (duh), and the more area you have to play with. 2) Throwing under 92.5 mph results in more hard hits, and much less wiggle room.

Lol at Yankees fans trying to cope with the fact that they have to cheat to win. Shocker.

If German got caught with sticky stuff, he should've been ejected and then suspended per the rules. But these numbers are nothing lol. This is like saying he threw 94.5 mph one inning and 94.3 mph the next. I beg of you to understand what these numbers mean before presenting them

I’m not a fan of umpires, that’s pretty well known. But there’s very few words I can use to describe Angel Hernandez’s umpiring and judgement that won’t get me twitter banned. So for now, Angel Hernandez is a very bad official of the game.

Bryce Miller has a case for the best 4-seam fastball in baseball: • Stuff+: 144 (3rd best) • Pitching+: 122 (best) • xWhiff+: 150 (3rd best) This is due to his high velo, lower release point (5.81') and INSANELY high induced vertical break at 20.9" (highest in MLB).

If you're serious about winning the division and going anywhere in the playoffs, Bundy is DFA-ed tomorrow and you're on the phone with Oakland or Cinci. You can't give a team a free W every 5 games.

@ItThatLed Fatigue will play a part, but not dropping 145 rpms while your velocity stays consistent. Usually itll be like 20-30 rpms.

Roki Sasaki's fastball averages out to be about 130 Stuff+ pitch in my model, which would give him a top-10 fastball in MLB for a starting pitcher. This dude is MLB-ready at 21 years old. Likely is going to get record-setting $$$ for a Japanese pitcher when he makes the jump.

‼️New Pitch Profiler Stat Alert: VAA vs Expected‼️ Nestor Cortes owns the flattest fastball vs expected in baseball at +0.61. His -4.87 vertical approach angle is 0.61 degrees flatter than what we would expect out of a pitch like his. This leads to more swings under the ball.
