It is extremely concerning that the Health Secretary has been providing prescription only drugs to friends and family. Prescription only medication should be obtained from regulated healthcare professionals.

If you have a friend who is a pharmacist and they haven’t contacted you recently, then just message them and say you are thinking of lending your antibiotics to someone. Before you have finished the . you will get a call telling you how bad an idea it is with PowerPoint slides.
‘Freely available’ No medication in my pharmacy as a responsible Pharmacist is freely available. It’s at my discretion and I know I may have to justify my actions to supply or not.

Offer counselling over HRT for menopause, GPs told - why should women be offered a treatment that does not improve all symptoms nor reduce risks of diseases? CBT may have a role but not to have instead of HRT which is an evidence based treatment
I have to admire whoever came up with the concept of ‘clinical’ pharmacists as a way to divide the profession further. Brilliantly divisive attempt to ridicule community pharmacists as merely shopkeepers. If community pharmacists didn’t turn up for work one day. You would know.
Pharmacists can I please encourage you to think about your female colleagues. How far is the car park? How many people are locking up late at night? Do female colleagues feel safe refusing the supply of a medication? Please consider these and other issues. Talk to each other.

- 1) you can use your collection code to collect LFT’s from your local pharmacy IF they have in stock. 2) We can only order one container full a day. 3) Abusing staff because LFT have run out is unacceptable.

I’m not asking for much but when this pandemic is over and Hollywood does the next lot of pandemic movies can you make sure the pharmacist isn’t wearing a lab coat. Thank you 👀
It is a complete disgrace that pharmacy staff WHO HAVE BEEN ON THE FRONTLINE ALL THROUGH THIS PANDEMIC are not eligible for free flu vaccinations. Are they dispensable? You would soon know if they weren’t there.

Every single person who labels themselves as a pharmacist or as working in pharmacy is an an ambassador of the profession. Whether you like it or not. Don’t undo the hard work of your colleagues.

No we have even more in-depth training about medications. Don’t compare us to GP’s. We both have important but different roles and there is some overlap.
@JonAshworth
Good God, pharmacists have been Independent Prescribers for over a decade now. Having said that, they do not have the education and training to mimic a GP.
I know Results Day is looming but provregs please know. That was ONE exam in a global pandemic so please show yourselves the compassion you would give to your patients. That one day does not define who you are as an individual. Please reach out for support.

One of the hardest things about being a pharmacist is not being able to easily contact prescribers. Especially for out of hours handwritten prescriptions. 😥
Please count your medication. If you’ve got 7 days or less please order your prescription. You don’t want to be chasing around for your medication on Xmas day. Though some pharmacies will be open.Stay home. Eat Turkey (or other substitute)😋

The Health Secretary’s comments have undermined the great work of healthcare colleagues working hard to prevent antibiotic resistance.
As always the devil is in the detail, the lack of detail concerning this plan so far is disappointing.

Thank you for all your 🥰 messages. The tenure as Chair is 2 years and what a whirlwind 2 it has been. I don’t ever want to be someone who hangs on forever. It’s important in organisations that new people grow and take opportunities- what is best for the profession.
I’m not going to be a pharmacist who holds back the future pharmacists of this profession. I’ll support them to do things safely and effectively. Lots of people don’t see our potential. We shouldn’t be holding back our future pharmacists. YES YOU CAN.
I fully support giving pharmacists more prescribing rights.
They have extensive training and know the people in the area extremely well.
They do a fantastic job and if they're fully involved in how the process will work, then it should go ahead.
I’m delighted to announce that I will be standing for

EPB election.
This is a crucial time for pharmacy and I believe now is the time for a fresh voice for

I would very much appreciate your support.

I’ve been waiting for exam results today and I’m delighted to share that I have been awarded a Graduate Diploma in Law!!! ( I’ve nearly needed a pharmacist in anticipation of how I have felt sick waiting today!)
The anticipation of exam results isn’t the nicest feeling in the world. Please look out for preregs that you know- especially this week. I know i went through a range of emotions.

Far too often pharmacists are being forced to provide blister packs due to to underfunding elsewhere. They are NOT always in the best interests of patients. They should not be there to assist paid carers...

5 years of studying to Masters level. Many have additional qualifications. Please do let me know which high school kids can do our job because is not easy, patients lives are in our hands and we are vital in the healthcare system. Also that is correct we are pharmacists.
Some of the commentary fails to recognise that pharmacists are regulated healthcare professionals who are experts in drugs and who are well aware of the issues of antibiotic resistance.
@rpharms
Can I kindly ask you all to resist the temptation to ring pharmacies to check they are open first thing on the first day of lockdown. Thank you in advance. We will be. We are always open somewhere. 🙌

Pharmacists are trained healthcare professionals with access to patient records. We are the right place to help address health inequalities women face.

My personal hot take on the
#provreg
exam. If practiced for months without issue- don’t see why they should have to do an exam. Any issues they should have to do the exam when it arrives. All very well pharmacists saying ‘we had an exam.’ NOT IN A GLOBAL PANDEMIC YOU DIDNT.
Any pharmacists who utter ‘we can’t do an emergency supply because the GP is open’ should have their registrations revoked. Try ‘we can’t provide an emergency supply because it is not clinically appropriate.’
Pharmacy students. When you go to a pharmacy you don’t just represent yourselves. You represent your School of Pharmacy and the profession. Don’t forget that.
Can you imagine how much stronger Primary Care could be if GP/Dentistry/Optometry, every single aspect of primary care worked together and worked to understand each other’s roles better.
Strongly urge anyone who has taken the
@TheGPhC
exam today and had issues to write down everything with time stamps and collate any evidence if available.

When the pharmacist has been there all day but you choose to come to the pharmacy as it closes for your medication. Please try and support your pharmacy teams we know life happens but supporting them is also a safety matter .

-Please don’t come to pharmacies to try to obtain antibiotics without a prescription.
-Don’t share antibiotics.
-Make sure you finish the course of any prescribed antibiotics (unless prescriber has said otherwise)

Quote of the day: 'Pharmacists are complicit in hiding austerity from the public.' That's because we continue to provide services for free. We bend over backwards to source medication and continue providing services that we are not remunerated for.
