When you hit an issue in an Open Source project like @vite_js as part of your company work, on top of creating a bug report with a good minimal reproduction, allocate some time to dive into the code and try to fix it yourself. Helping to improve your OSS deps is part of your job.

What attracted me to @vite_js is its pragmatic approach. A tool that projects can adopt today, which is stable and extendable (its Rollup-based Plugin API was key to its success), and with its internals in constant evolution as new libs (JS or native) and Web APIs are available.

The result of this poll is very scary! 😲 Please don't disable caching by default when you run a @vite_js dev server! Dependencies are hard cached and your source code will get 304s to avoid re-downloading them on reloads. Stop disabling the cache, you'll see a big perf boost!

With SPA mode, there are high chances of Remix filling the void that create-react-app left (without the known CRA limitations). People wanted us to turn the Vite React starters into a CRA equivalent. But this is right path. The new CRA had to come deep from the React community.

A great way to contribute to an OSS project, which needs to be more common, is to send PRs with failing tests based on triaged issues. Having the tests, on top of a well-crafted minimal reproduction, is a huge step towards maintainers or other contributors landing a fix.

I'm anxious about devs pumping their GitHub contributions by weaponizing Devin (and better future incarnations) to create sounding PRs to popular OSS repos. It will take time to realize the PRs are automated. We'll close 90%. A nightmarish drainer of maintainers' time and energy.

Vite 4 and SvelteKit 1 are a great close to an incredible year for the @vite_js ecosystem. Also, personally, time to reflect on a year beyond my wildest dreams. First, a big shoutout to @ericsimons40 and the whole @stackblitz team for allowing me to work full-time on @vite_js ⚡️

A Vite Demo, with @youyuxi at @JavascriptJam I missed this one when it went out. This is a great discussion @ianand @mockaroodev I like a lot the way Evan showcases Vite features starting to build up from a simple web server

Good to say it out loud in case someone needs to hear it. Many OSS devs lost a third or more of their sponsors. Don't doubt yourself. The ongoing crisis and GitHub removing Paypal as a payment option are possible reasons. We appreciate you! Thanks a ton for what you do 💜

We're close to releasing @vite_js 4.3.0. Help us in these last miles! Update your projects to vite @4 .3.0-beta.7, and let us know how it works for you. And keep an eye out for the dev server perf.

Another ~500ms win when using vite --open 👀 It would apply to both cold and warm start. Paired with the perf improvements in 4.3, it feels like the Vite dev server disappears and you are opening static HTML for the starters.

That feeling when you see someone starting to consistently contribute to an open-source project 💜 To everyone pushing hard to overcome the initial ramp-up and help the projects you use and love, thank you so much. We truly appreciate it. You make it worthwhile to work on OSS.

Woah! Huge news! @laravelphp is adopting @vite_js as the *default* for new apps 🤯 Shoutout to @jessarchercodes and the team for the way they got involved in Vite core, helping to merge key PRs. Laravel will surely be one of the main players in the Vite ecosystem moving forward

The long ecosystem-first bet that @vuejs and @nuxt_js played during the past years is paying off. Nuxt shares with others: Vite, Nitro, UnJS, Volar, Dev Tools (soon). So they can focus on features. I hope Turbopack ends up unplugin-compatible, so we can all share with Next too.

After 300+ commits, tons of new features, lots of new interconnected components and reactive state... opening Lighthouse to fine-tune an app and still getting a perfect performance score feels like cheating @vite_js and @vuejs 3 are making this too easy 💚

Let's help a bit. We're very impressed by @rspack_dev , both by its perf story and by how quickly they're building up a community and ecosystem. When updating to rspack 0.1.5, the startup time gets even better, and HMR jumps from ~300ms to ~60ms. Mad respect for the rspack team 🙏

No need to import components thanks to vite-plugin-components auto-importing them No defineProps, defineEmits imports as they are global now in <script setup> And no need to import ref, computed, watch thanks to Now that is a good signal to noise ratio 🔥

Wiz powers Google apps like Search and YouTube. Angular and Wiz are merging. Vite powers Angular's dev server. Does this end up where I'm dreaming it ends up?

Formatters are awesome, especially when doing PR reviews. They also introduce issues though, for example when an addition triggers a line break. The diff isn't showing what changed here. It would be great if diff viewers would be Prettier-aware, counting line breaks as spacing.

A lot of OS devs are forwarding part of their GH Sponsors' funds to other maintainers. I love this 💜 But we're collectively losing a ridiculous sum of money. We need to take funds out of GitHub and in again. Could someone help us get Sponsors forwarding?

Several folks in the @vite_js community are taking a day off from work to be able to be active in the event and focus on the talks during @ViteConf 🥹 It says a lot that they are thinking about the conference as if they would be attending a festival ❤️

For the commit 5k to the @vite_js repository, the team wanted to merge a significant PR. We choose for it to be a symbol of Vite's framework agnostic story: the plugins for Vue and React have now been moved out of the Vite core monorepo.

Wait. is surreal. It opens @stackblitz to edit a @vite_js project that creates an app that uses WebContainers API to run an express server on the browser. And then runs the Vite server in the browser to play with it! It is WebContainers on WebContainers 🤯
