The fundamental lie of today's carbon markets is that credits are equivalent to each other. They're dressed up as commodity markets, but each unit of the commodity (carbon credit) is not at all interchangeable, and everyone's incentive is to look the other way.

I really hope we can move from a world of carbon credits to a world of radiative forcing credits. Everything from painting roofs white to marine cloud brightening and methane oxidation should be in scope, and the carbon lens makes us blind to the potential value of this stuff.

Startup idea: build a really good electric home stove that’s actually fun to cook with. Probably needs new burner tech, new pans, partnerships with famous chefs. Start very high end then go downmarket Tesla-style. Make people happy to remove home natural gas.

This is an important and correct piece. Carbon removal is *so far* from being permanent, cheap, and scalable! For 10gt/yr removal by 2050, assuming reasonable failure and learning rates, we'd need thousands of CDR companies operating now. Today, there are less than 50.

Can't get over how cool this is The white crystal-y stuff on this basalt? It's CO2 that was captured from the air, concentrated... and then injected into a geothermal well until it mineralized as a carbonate where it'll be permanently stored. Geologic sequestration is wild
