E-cargo bikes are now street legal!
Large delivery trucks can present safety and environmental hazards, so we’ve created new rules to make deliveries greener and safer. Check out our own e-cargo bike: Cargi B!
Say hello to NYC’s first wider
#BikeNYC
lane! To support increased cycling & e-micromobility, we doubled the width of bike lanes on four blocks of 9th Ave in Manhattan as part of a resurfacing project. We’ll monitor use & plan to roll out additional wider lanes this year.
Today we announced that NYC’s speed cameras will begin operating 24/7 on 8/1/22. The city’s 2,000 automated speed cameras were previously authorized by the state to operate only weekdays, 6AM-10PM but a new state law allows the cameras to operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week
The Brooklyn Bridge received a glow up!
Starting tonight the Brooklyn Bridge is being lit with energy efficient LED lights. The new lights showcase ‘America’s Eiffel Tower’ and NYC DOT’s extensive restoration work that returned it to its original gray color.
Last night crews began installing
#BikeNYC

#Queens
. Barriers have been installed from Hoyt Ave S to Newtown Ave & from 38th Ave to 39th Ave. Additional barriers & other vertical elements will be installed along Crescent St to Queens Plaza N.
Today

We're reimagining curb space!
Today we kicked off public outreach to inform planning for a “Smart Curbs” pilot on the Upper West Side to modernize our streets to meet 21st century demands.
1/10 Workshop:
Feedback Map:
80% of New Yorkers receive at least one delivery weekly, resulting in more trucks on our roads. This creates environmental and safety risks. Our new pilot will create local hubs for trucks to unload to smaller modes like cargo bikes for final deliveries 👉🏽
The rumors are true! We're the first government agency to release a makeup line.
Our 'Eyes On The Road' eyeshadow palette will raise awareness about the dangers of distracted driving. Look where you're going, and look good doing it.

E-Cargo bikes are the future of deliveries!
Today we announced that we've authorized the use of e-cargo bikes on our streets & established key safety standards including new rules designed to make deliveries safer & more sustainable by reducing the number of large trucks in NYC.
Commercial cargo bikes have a big role to play in the delivery of
@nycfood
, especially in last mile, low-weight & low-volume deliveries! It's estimated that two cargo bikes can replace one delivery truck, leading to approx. 16 tons of CO2 savings a year.
#ClimateWeekNYC
We are piloting vertical elements on the center line at select entry points on the two-way protected

Bikes are not a niche form of transportation! As we celebrate
#BikeMonth
, we've seen a major uptick in bike traffic in NYC. On 1st Ave in
#Manhattan
, there were 750

lane users in one hour vs. 1,100 motor vehicles. Let's make this the summer of cycling.
Berry St just got a whole lot sweeter.
We’ve redesigned every intersection on Berry St from Broadway to North 12th St for higher visibility, greater public space, and calmer traffic. Come check out the two-way Bike Boulevard, curb extensions, new loading zones, and much more.
Cycling in New York City has reached a new all-time high. Creating infrastructure to make cycling safe means more cyclists on our streets. Today, we announced the new steps we are taking to expand
#BikeNYC
infrastructure and encourage the safe operation of e-bikes.
We've taken action to allow larger pedal-assist cargo bikes on our streets! These bikes will help improve safety and curb carbon emissions by reducing the number of big delivery trucks on our streets.
