A relative had to have a
#COVID19
test due to a sudden persistent cough. Rang GP at 11.15 am yesterday, test at 2.45 that afternoon, result (thankfully negative) at 4 pm today. Very impressed with the system!
Rollercoaster first week on the 6.1 News - thanks to the team for looking after me, especially
@CaitrionaPerry
- hopefully she can keep putting up with me!
What a result! And yet, as usual, twitter delivers the negativity. People claiming rugby is elitist, or wishing the team played GAA instead. FFS. We beat the best in the world. Could we just celebrate that without begrudgery? For a day?

Yet again, passengers *refuse* to leave by

middle door, insist on going out front door so they can thank driver. Dublin, don’t ever change...
Thanks to the lovely people at
@Gill_Books
, I have a new book coming out - a guide to Irish politics for children (& maybe some adults!). The Great Irish Politics Book,
#GIPB
, illustrated by
@GrahamArtwork

That was a really great
#LateLateToyShow
. A brilliant team behind it, fantastic kids on air, and
@PatricKielty
- who had *huge* shoes to fill - knocked it out of the park!
The 18 year old is taking her first vote seriously - has diligently gone through all the candidate leaflets to work out exactly how she’ll vote, right down to the last preference. So proud!
Waterford now has the lowest rate of Covid per 100,000 population, as
@FergalBowers
just told us on
@rtenews
6.1 - given the concerns about the county earlier, shows it can be done!
Due to jaundice as a kid, couldn’t give blood for years. Found out 5 years ago the rules had changed - today I gave my 20th donation. Always worth checking the latest rules with

A magical end to a brilliant three night stand at

I think that was the best “Thunder Road” I’ve ever seen. I hope that’s not the last we’ve seen of

, or of the E Street Band.

Aaaaaaand.... the holidays start here. Will be off The Twitter for a couple of weeks, so if I don’t respond, that’s the reason. Or maybe I’m ignoring you. One or the other.

Apparently
@piersmorgan
didn’t like this (excellent) review of his Trump iv by
@kathysheridanIT
. It would be terrible if people retweeted it just to annoy him.
Wow! News that
@TodaySOR
is retiring will leave a big gap on our airwaves... I’ve worked with him for 25 years or so - challenging us to do our best work, always on top of the story, and always great fun! Legend!
Woman in front of me in the supermarket earlier was taking the threat of lockdown seriously. 3 *massive* bottles of Martini, *and* 4 pots of Aero yoghurt.

Great to hear stories of good people doing good stuff. A pal was ordering something for a relative with the virus - when the good people of Bread 41 in Pearse St heard it was for a HCW, they refused to take payment. Hope good deeds like this bring shops support in future.
@mcculld
You really are a cheap piece of populist crap macullagh. Your a Mehole Martin gimp and nothing morey.. A disgusting cheap coward and the TV license won’t be funding you for much longer

One of the President of Ireland’s much loved dogs has died. People are responding on the

In the mid 1980s, Michael was very decent to me on a TY work placement in the Irish Times. I’m not sure I ever thanked him when I got to know him in Leinster House. He was a good man, great company, and a superb journalist. RIP.
Quick experiment, please, Twitter, for a thing I’m doing - what does the phrase “de Valera’s Ireland” mean to you? Preferably in a word or two. Thank you!
On this evening's 6.1
@rtenews
with
@sharontobin
, I get to talk history *and* rugby. If there was a Springsteen story as well, it would be my perfect bulletin. Still, 2 out of 3 ain't bad...
Out walking the dog. Fella goes past on an electric scooter, with a little dog on a lead. Little dog wants to stop and say hello to my dog, but can’t because electric scooter guy keeps on going. I’m not sure this is a good thing...
Finished (at last!). What a fantastic resource for anyone interested in Irish history. Every home should have one - every school *must* have one.
