Six months ago my son would ask for a happy meal with six McNuggets. Now, I just saw him devour a 1 kg meat platter with buffalo wings and ribs. He then turned me, looked at my steak, and said, "Are you gonna eat all that?" The shift from 12 to 13 is massive!

I don't wanna be the anti-KDY dude, KDY sincerely tries to be sensitive to people suffering, but his don't-take-empathy-too-far thing is weird. I've written a pastoral commentary on Romans, I've read dozens of Romans commentaries, and this qualification has occurred to nobody!

@albertmohler Al, I'm generally supportive of those issues, but as a foreign friend looking into America, there are other issues too, like preserving the American democratic project, avoiding civil religion & the idolatry of nationalism, care for the poor, and helping working families.
