I am delighted that the Home Office have set our proposals to give the police tougher powers to deal with unauthorised encampments - an issue that affects many local communities and one I have been campaigning on for many months.

My wonderful wife made the easy mistake of marrying me #OnThisDay in 2010. Also #OnThisDay a train named after a duck went quicker than any other train named after a duck (The “Mallard” broke the world speed record for a steam locomotive by reaching 125.88mph). #HappyAnniversary

🏍️ Last month we launched the new off-road motorbike team. They will be supporting local neighbourhood teams by tackling antisocial behaviour and criminality in hard to reach areas. In rural communities or our town and cities, pursuing criminals across Thames Valley.

Three TVP officers saved the lives of a terrified woman and her children by detaining an extremely abusive and violent husband - suffering severe injuries during the incident. They've now been nominated for The National #PoliceBravery Awards tomorrow:

Honoured to take part in a dedication service for the @ThamesVP Memorial Garden. Humbling to talk to some of the families who have lost loved ones in the line of duty over the last 50 years. A very moving service and a fitting memorial to fallen officers.

Great result today by @ThamesVP in dealing with an illegal encampment in Wycombe, but this just highlights the need to change the law to give the police better powers in dealing with what is a major issues for many communities across the Thames Valley.

Egyptian forces raided Larnaca Airport #OnThisDay in 1978 in an attempt to intervene in a hijacking, without authorisation from the Republic of Cyprus authorities. Cypriot forces killed 15 Egyptian commandos and destroyed the Egyptian C-130 transport plane in open combat.
