🚨 Final day to have your say 🚨
Today is the final day to take part in our automatic fire alarm consultation.
After it closes, Royal Berkshire Fire Authority will meet in June 2024 to consider the results of consultation and make a decision.
Remember to
#RespectTheWater
!
If you find yourself in difficulty in the water, don’t panic. Lean back in the water and float on your back until the effects of cold water shock pass.

🚨 Only a few days left to have your say 🚨
We’re asking for your views on how we respond to automatic fire alarms.
99% of the calls we receive from automatic fire alarms are false alarms.
Please don't be tempted to cool off in open water. Whilst the weather is warming up, rivers and lakes are still cold.
Cold water shock catches even the best swimmers out.

We recently welcomed Emanuel and Anton, firefighters from Greater Stockholm Fire Brigade to Whitley Wood Fire Station.
The visit was a great opportunity to share learning and experience between our crew and their fire service.

If someone is in trouble in water, call 999. At the coast, ask for the coastguard. If you’re inland, ask for the fire and rescue service.

False alarms can be caused by several issues, for example, aerosol sprays, cooking fumes or a fire alarm system that hasn’t been serviced properly.
We are consulting on proposals to change the way the Service responds to these types of calls.
One week to go until our Armed Forces Veterans' Hub event on 14 May between 10am and 1pm at Crowthorne Community Fire Station.
The event is an opportunity to speak to a range of veterans' organisations and charities.
