iOS 17 only alert ⚠️‼️🔊
Using the new interactive widgets, I’ve built a soundboard app, which you can use right from your lock and Home Screen (turn on sound to hear them).
Early beta is already on TestFlight:
I don't need this 2016 MacBook Pro 16" anymore, so I'm thinking of giving it away to someone, who wants to learn iOS dev, but can't afford a Mac.
The right shift and control key don't work reliably; otherwise it works fine.
Do you know anyone who would need this?
Job Alert 🚨 We are looking for a Web Frontend Dev to bring the work-in-progress
@structured_app
web app to the next level.
We are a tiny, indie company and all of us are really nice (I promise 🤞)
More info here:
Just submitted the live activity update for review. Hopefully it will get approved in time for Monday 🤞
Thanks for all the workarounds to

A few people have asked how to play sounds from interactive widgets, so I decided to open source my soundboard widget app:
Also, if anyone wants to help with creating some nice soundboards, lmk.

⚡ Meet the Indie App Highlight ⚡
With a small banner in the app settings, we will highlight a different amazing indie app every week.
The first one is

from
@frederikRiedel

(p.s. we don't make any money from this)
On April 9, 2020 I launched my hobby project
@structured_app
.
Two years later, it has been downloaded over 1.7 Million times, and I'm working full-time on it.
Here I summarized its story:
I was always torn if I should stop offering
@structured_app
in Russia, but I certainly don't want to benefit from anyone using it there.
So, I'm donating all sales since Jan 2022 from Russia, Belarus & Ukraine to charities helping Ukraine 🇺🇦 ($6000)
Firstly, I'll release
@structured_app
for Apple Watch⌚️ (on it's second birthday 🎂).
Plus, I'll have to found a company (GmbH) around the app. Open to naming suggestions!
Guess I'm now an

I’ve added so many icons to
@structured_app
that it was getting hard to scroll through them.
I took inspiration from the emoji picker and added this bar.
It kind of works and make jumping to certain categories much easier.
Oh, wow! Thanks for all the messages ♥️
I've found an organization (
@UnderdogDevs
), which helps formerly incarcerated learn to code and will lend it to its mentees.
After 6 months working at
@vectornator

Even in this short time, I've learned a lot and am super thankful to everyone I've worked with 🙏
Excited for what comes next...
This week was my last

😢 I've learned so much there and am soo thankful to all my colleges ❤️
But I'm also hyped to start

soon 🚀

has a use for it ✅
Now we just need to find a way to get it to the US.
Is anyone going back to the US from
@swift_leeds
and could take it with them?

I was an extra for
#BabylonBerlin
, a fantastic German TV show about Berlin in the 1920s before Hitler rose to power.
Probably the only time it's ok to dress up as a Nazi.
7 (!) years ago today,
@LeoMehlig
and I hacked the diagnose SSH-port of this street sweeper so we could stream live data to our iPad to play Super Mario Kart.

✨ This Week's Indie App Highlight ✨
Posture Pal makes sure you are sitting straight and if you, don't a cute giraffe (Rafi) will alert you 🚨
It uses the motion sensor in AirPods (Pro or Max) 🤯
This is one of the many apps
@jordibruin
has developed.
Today I noticed the hard way that Apple Watches are 32 bits...
My localized strings with %lld placeholder produced pretty weird results, like (only on real watches, not simulator).
Changing %lld to %ld fixed it ✅
Apple completely broke styling & custom SF Symbols for inline widget in the RC (right). Everything worked perfectly on beta 6 (left).
Is anyone else seeing this/knows a workaround?
Don't get me wrong, it's very nice that Xcode no longer includes all platforms by default. BUT downloading 3.5 GB in the train because you forgot about this, is not ideal...
Im going to study at the TU Berlin next semester!
My girlfriend and I are looking for an apartment in Berlin starting October. Please let me know if you know anything.
Booking intern. trains in Europe is a mess 🥵
I need to get from Leeds 🇬🇧 (for
@swift_leeds
) to Cologne 🇩🇪 in October
Surprisingly, train takes roughly the same time as a flying (no direct flight).
Leeds → London → Brussels → Cologne (~8h)
Booking is a different story…
Had a bug for ages, where changes to reminders in Structured wouldn't sync back to .
Apparently, updating the dueDate is not enough. You need to change the alarm as well.
First time finding solution by searching on Github.
Thanks
🧵 I’ve been thinking a lot about what to do with
@structured_app
marketing wise.
Personally, I hate ads, and I am trying to ban them from every part of life (where possible), so it feels weird to pay, so that other people have to tolerate mine.
After the initial update when through quickly yesterday, now a bug fix update has been rejected because:
1. I have a form for students to request discounts
2. The new indie app highlight (showing a banner with other apps)
Ended up going for
@FrontHQ
.
Has all the features I need and the price is reasonable (min $48 / month)
Plus the UI looks very nice and is super fast!
Now all my channels (email, insta, twitter) are in one place ☑
What customer support software are fellow
#indiedev
using?
Everything I find looks so “enterprisyyy”🕴️ All I need is a simple service to manage messages from email, insta and twitter in one place. No need for live chat, help center or phone.
Have any mobile devs ever run churn surveys without collecting emails 📧?
I'd love to know, why people stop using the app but don't know how to reach them.
The only way that comes to mind, is scheduling a local notification that fires after 30 days of inactivity 🔔
Undo/Redo didn't work in Mac Catalyst using the normal `UndoManager`...
This hack returns the undoManger from the underlying NSWindow. Now the keyboard shortcuts work ☑
Big shout-out to
@leoMehlig
for being the first

Subscriber and helping me test the purchase flow 🙌
Looks like everything is ready for tomorrow "low-key" launch 😀

@RevenueCat
Fun fact! That integration ones caused me to hit the message limit on Slacks free plan, which made all the other messages disappear...
Does anyone know someone, who has experience designing custom

I have a huge list of icons I want to add to
