My top CEO of 2022:
@paraga
Agrawal, ex $TWTR CEO. He took Elon’s “$54.20 or nothing”, signed the tightest merger agreement he could, called Elon’s bluff, didn’t back down and won (h/t to Bret Taylor) He delivered for shareholders when every other social media company couldn’t.
When I was this kid and KISS was hot, I wasn’t possibly thinking: one day I’ll go to Wall Street and then I’ll end up on a stock show and that show will one day have on Gene, the guy from KISS talking about this thing Bitcoin. But that’s what happened on FM last night.
Here’s why I believe I am a candidate for best wife ever. I got my husband this card to give to me today (same thing I did last year). This year I made it even easier for him-note the sign here sticker. Happy Valentine’s Day!
15 years ago I was a hedge fund manager who never considered TV but somehow wound up doing a "screen test" with
@DylanRatigan
@GuyAdami
@JeffMacke
. Guy and I debated Sothebys. I fell in love with
@CNBCFastMoney
and those guys.
Today would have been my mother’s 84th birthday. Nana Jane-miss her every day & remember her kooky words of wisdom:vacuum in your kids rooms while they’re sleeping, teaches them to sleep through anything,& at dinner every night she would say “manner school is now in session.” ❤️
Every morning when the market opens I look at the screen and all the numbers flashing and I think to myself OK should I do? And then I remember doing nothing is probably going to be the best thing for me to do, not as fun, but likely more profitable in the end.
Every night when I go to bed I’m either nervous or excited or both about every position that I have. And I can’t wait to look at them all again the next day.
I couldn’t let the day go by without wishing my cherished friend
@GuyAdami
the happiest of birthdays. He is one of the coolest, funniest and kindest guys I know. I miss that huggable face more than you can imagine (and your face too Guy!). Hoping to see you in person again soon.
You know when u receive a package from $AMZN and can’t remember what you could possibly have ordered.Then it becomes sort of like a grab bag,you don’t know what it is—could be a new lip gloss or an avocado pitter. Sadly today’s grab bag was 2 tubes of Neosporin. So disappointing.
I was at the corner of the $TSLA store today where a Cybertruck was on display, an Uber pulled up and a Door Dash guy zipped by on a bike, then a guy on an electric scooter stopped to see what the fuss was about. 15 years ago nobody had heard of these companies.
On this day in 1987, somebody’s quotron (I don’t know whose) looked like this. Many tickers are recognizable, some have been acquired and some don’t exist. I keep this photo for perspective. On today’s Index it would be approximately 8,000 points down. In one day!
Weekend reading. One of my absolute favorite books on the market. I read it every few years. It’s more of a psychological analysis of the human psyche than anything else.
Can’t let the day go by without wishing my favorite “Guy”
@GuyAdami
a very happy birthday. The coolest old school Guy I’ve ever known. You always make me laugh and I’m so grateful for your friendship. I love this Guy!!! 🎂
Thought for the day. One of the biggest mistakes investors make- I know I tested the mistake many times- is making a decision to sell based on your cost. It’s an irrelevant piece of information yet can become the guiding factor. It’s all ego and should have no weight.
Maybe we were toasting your birthday that day
@MelissaLeeCNBC
. And happy birthday today. You’re the absolute best at what you do. And I’m honored to call you my friend. Too mushy for you?
After downloading Bloomberg 3x and checking my internet connection also 3x, it occurred to me it’s Christmas Eve Day and the market is closed. I have to admit I’m going to be playing my Mariah Carey playlist tonight, starting with All I Want for Christmas! Have a Merry Christmas!
Many, many years ago on this day, November 6th, I got married. It was the happiest day of my life. Ironically, that means that every day of the marriage after that was/is worse.

As a long-term investor (on a show called Fast Money), year-end doesn't mean a ton. Other than taxes and flow of funds, I don't give it much relevance. I try to have a good process for investing and consistently improve. Some years are better than others, so let's take a look:
Every year on this night I’m reminded how proud I am of my sister Wendy Finerman- Oscar Winner- Producer Forrest Gump. And tonight I get to add my cousin David Dinerstein- Producer Summer of Soul!!! So proud!🥲
Tweet idea:
I am long $FB into earnings. I think the top line number and EPS will be good/very good. They may surprise us with a v big spend on Metaverse development. Might scare some holders. I think $FB deserves the benefit of the doubt that this will be money well spent.
Not related to the markets in anyway, I’ve noticed that if I put something into the microwave for 45 seconds I cannot possibly wait around till it’s done. I have to go find something else to do for those 45 seconds or something to get done. Is it just me?
I just spent an hour on the phone with my older twins discussing Robinhood. And how Wall St isn’t fair to the little investor. In my entire career they have never been more interested in a single day.
Definitely blood on the streets, and some of it is certainly my own. It’s interesting w the NASD sell off, the future just got a lot cheaper. Got my list -eager to buy but not quite yet.
Here’s to
@GuyAdami
on his birthday. So lucky to know you, to call you my friend, to share the desk with you - virtually now. You’re a very good egg! It’s my highest praise. Happy birthday Guy!!
I know splits are just math but I get why $GOOG is up on this split. Options become relevant and there are no baby shares now so new, smaller investors can buy after split. Net net though it doesn’t change the story for me.
Here’s the thing I’m most curious about in $TWTR. What is Elon hiding? Did he not want to be deposed that much? Why wouldn’t he just roll the dice at trial? You never know-small chance of a win, some chance at a negotiated price cut, or he loses and ends up where he is today. 🤔
Happy Valentine’s Day!
I got my husband a blank Valentine’s Day card for him to give to me so he wouldn’t forget. It literally says “to my wonderful wife”. He can’t mess this up.
I am positioned for inflation and hikes and short term growth but I f you gave me an advanced copy of the FOMC minutes and said make money off this I don’t know if I’d be able to do it. 🤦♀️
I lost my AirPods last night.
Made me sad. If I had to quantify how sad, maybe (-4) units.
Found them this am. Happy (+5) units. Net/net I’m flat on the AirPods but +1 psychologically. I’ll take it as a win. Happy Mother’s Day to all the Moms out there. Thinking of my Mom-xo
I can’t be silent. I will use the words of a hero, MY hero Venus Williams. I know, I’m a middle-aged white woman literally named Karen so my words may lack gravitas. Hers do not.
Interesting math. Reed Hastings buys $19.4M worth of $NFLX, stock rallies $31, gain on his 5.15M shares already held= $159.9M. Wow. BTW I think he’s outstanding and wanted to send a message of support. Mission accomplished.
Saw this last night at the airport.
Genius product. Wheelie suitcase a toddler can ride on. Padded seat, foot rests, handles, genius. I would have been a better mother on trips if these had been around. This cutie pie rockin the dinosaur shirt and the dinosaur wheelie.
Happy Father's Day to all the Dads out there. It's your most important job so take the day off. I love you dad❤️
Me and my dad (and his then-father-in-law. it's a long story):
At the end of the craziest year ever- so far- I’m thankful to be healthy and mindful of so many who lost so much. As always, happy to be part of the
@cnbcfastmoney
team with
@melissaleeCNBC
, the boys, and all those behind the scenes. Onward!
I was getting lunch yesterday wearing a mask and a hoodie down jacket. A guy comes up to me and says,“hey- I like your show”. I say thanks but how did you know it was me? He said “it’s the voice.” The thing is, I’ve heard my voice on a voicemail I swear it sounds nothing like me.
I was reading the WSJ this am -old school print version-and tried to scroll up with my finger when I got to the fold. Took me a second to figure out why that didn’t work.
Starting the year, I like to review my performance in the last one. I call it the good, the bad, and the ugly. While I try to have a strong decision-making process, the best process can still end in defeat, and crazy outcomes can make a dumb trade look good. Let’s take a look:
I forgot my phone last night when I came back to NY city. I feel like I quit smoking, broke my right wrist and am travelling in a country where my plugs don't work, I don't know the currency and they drive on the other side of the road.
Just to clarify — I am not planning on leaving the show- I’m just traveling the rest of this week. I was only noting the other night-our 12th anniv -how grateful I am to be a part of it, & what a ride it’s been. I have gotten some funny, nice and confused calls, however. 🙏
If I owned no $BABA and had been waiting for things to settle down, I’d be buying it right here. I do own it however, and would add here. That $2.8B fine was the best news we’ve seen in a while.
It’s always good to review the year and learn from the successes and mistakes. If you are an always-long-biased investor like I am, a year like this can hide a lot. Still, I made some good investments and some bad ones. Sadly mistakes are more valuable. Here’s what I learned:
For those of you who seem to be interested I just covered all my $TWTR. Short was v compelling Monday afternoon but risk/reward v different now, so I covered.
Wow
@andrewrsorkin
that was mesmerizing. I do believe
@SBF_FTX
feels bad, I do believe he was shocked at how quickly it unraveled but I can’t possibly believe he couldn’t appreciate how closely Alameda and FTX were intertwined and how he’s not clear on whether he took customers $
