I am deeply saddened by the death of Marian Finucane .She was the voice of reason on the national airwaves for 40 years. Fair, welcoming ,reassuring , trusting and trusted , charming yet inquisitive she was a unique broadcaster. RIP
Larry Gogan RIP From ‘Just A MinuteQuiz” to the Golden Hour Larry was the soundtrack of our lives from the 1960s-2020s.I visited him ten days ago , he was in his usual great form with his loving family,his beautiful honeyed voice,the quick wit and deep intelligence shone through
If Ireland in all it’s generosity,progress,creativity,joy , heartbreak and exuberance over the last sixty years had a voice , it would be the dulcet, challenging,bemused questioning reassuring voice of Gay Byrne. We as a country are all the better for his life. R.I.P.
#gaybyrne
May 31 ,1979 ,on RTE Radio One the Gay Byrne show was extended to 2 hours and Marian Finucane launched “Women Today” which grew into Liveline in 1985 .It was a historic day .In less than 2 months we have lost the twin pillars of public broadcasting over 40 years Gay & Marian
3rd Anniversary Remembering an all round good human being, helped change Ireland for the better Gay Byrne. 1934-2019. R.I.P. Never forgotten. As Bono wrote in Surrender “he had real values, he let people be heard and seen more than most ..he’s been there in our moments of need”
Honoured to remember the 40 children killed in the Easter rising. 9 were killed on this day 105 years ago today. Tear down the black plastic ! No hierarchy no judgement. A true republic. , every life valued equally.
May we never forget this iconic intro on

Liveline listeners telling us their jaws dropped when Minister Ryan said Dublin is at a tipping point where “ cycling and walking will become the mainstream way of travelling in the capital! Population 1.6 million. No metro.
Raining.
@rteliveline
With a ban on private cars and commercial vehicles travelling through Dublin city centre to be in place by August, Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan says there will soon be a tipping point where cycling will become the main form of transport.

As I’ve said over the last 24 hours , in his long vibrant life and his enthusiastic living through his dying , Charlie Bird changed Ireland for good , and changed us all for the better.
Our thoughts are with the family of the wonderful Margaret Lynch who has sadly passed away aged 100 years and 7 months. Margaret celebrated her birthday on air with

Today we say goodbye to a much loved legend of Clontarf, Myrna Russell who died suddenly and too soon. Loved by all especially the animals she rescued. R.I.P.

Yesterday, John told

about being pushed from his bike while cycling in the Dublin Mountains.
The call prompted another listener to send us the video below.
John was able to confirm he IS the cyclist in the clip and will be giving his reaction on
