The ending of the Bute House agreement is a huge opportunity for the SNP to reset our agenda in government. Out with identity politics & virtue signalling. In with policies to tackle the bread & butter issues that our constituents bring up on the doorsteps.
I am holding an advice surgery this Friday 10th May 10 - 12 noon, at the Dhammapadipa Temple, 199 Slateford Rd, EH14 1LA.
If you are a constituent living in Edinburgh South West and would like my assistance, please call 0131 600 0156 for an appointment.
Congratulations to
@JohnSwinney
. I agree that the polarisation of politics does not serve our country well & that we must have open & respectful dialogue both within
@theSNP
& with others. I hope this truly marks the end of
#NoDebate
in Scotland.
John Swinney says his appointment as
@theSNP
leader marks the start of a new chapter
He says the fact he was the only candidate demonstrates the SNP is coming together
And as he puts himself forward to be First Minister this week - he’s promising to listen and work with others

Am listening with rapt attention to audiobook of Sister In Law by
@HWistrich
. I sort of knew the cases but in her factual, modest style she is blowing me away. She ran some of the most important civ. liberties cases in last 30 yrs. Amazing Why is she not in the House of Lords?

Dr Hilary Cass will be giving evidence on her report to Holyrood's health committee next Tuesday. Be interesting to hear what questions are put, particularly from the Scottish Green MSP Gillian Mackay given her party co-leader Patrick Harvie refused to accept the report

Good to see an apology from the school here but the social transitioning policies being pushed in Scottish schools by LGBT Youth Scotland & others need to go in the light of the recommendations of the

Kate Forbes statement in full. A selfless act looking to the best interests of the country & party. There’s more to admire Kate for than just her grace under fire.
I have listened very carefully to the vision
@JohnSwinney
set out this morning for Scotland.
I welcomed, and embrace, his commitment to ensure internal respect for robust and divergent debate in the party, which is the lifeblood of any democratic institution like the SNP. /1
I applaud Kate & John’s decision to work together for SNP unity based on a joint commitment to ensure internal respect for robust & divergent debate in the party & a return to government from the mainstream focusing on bread & butter issues & independence.
Excellent statement from
@JohnSwinney
about his intention to stand as leader of
@theSNP
.
Very clear message about the importance of bringing the extremely talented
@_KateForbes
back into the heart of government.
I am very pleased to hear John Swinney reach out to Kate Forbes & pledge to restore internal party democracy & respectful debate in
@theSNP
in his leadership pitch. This should set the tone for all that follows.
This afternoon a constituent contacted my office to say their relative who arrived for a standard interview was detained.
The constituent had made his claim in May 2022, and was due to receive a decision by the Home Office, by 31st December 2023. No decision had been made/
We're glad to say that we have now received the outcome of our complaint regarding this incident, and both elements have been upheld. As the letter notes, the policy of the Scottish Parliament has been changed and we will in future be allowed to wear our badges.
