QBs you better realize that football is NOT a sport for the soft. A soft QB kills a team in so many ways. And while mental toughness won’t guarantee you'll win … playing without it pretty much guarantees you won't. So either get tough or prepare to get exposed.
If your son wants to play college ball but thinks his HS coaches are too hard on him, he probably doesn’t need to pursue a college career…it’s an entirely different level of urgency and intensity. Being coached hard isn’t for everyone and that’s ok. It’s ok to just be a fan.
Young Quarterbacks learn and pay close attention to the Brock Purdy story. He went from zero to hero because he did not “SULK” when he was the last pick of the draft and sat on the bench. Instead he worked and continued to PREPARE so he was ready when his number was called!
Insightful exchange here with Dan Mullen and FL QBs ... “conscience of body position“ and “stop and feel”. At
@nfacoach
we teach how “self awareness” leads to “self-correction” and focus on “perfect start and perfect stop”. QBs Be aware of your movements.
Quarterbacks understand that your leadership skills are the most important attribute you have. Use your influence carefully and remember a word of encouragement during failure is worth more than a dictionary of praise after success.
QBs and QB dads know that the best 10-year-old QBs aren’t always the best 8th grade QBs and the best 8th grade QBs aren’t always the best Varsity QBs. And very often the QBs that "aren’t so good" often become the best QBs down the road. That is why it is called DEVELOPMENT!
Quarterbacks you become a leader the day you decide to make your mission to fully serve your teammates. When you realize it’s not about them serving you but you serving them. Big time impact happens at that point.
-Was told was too short for D1.
-FAU, New Mexico, Rice only offers.
-Walked on to Texas Tech.
-Won QB job.
-Injured. Transferred.
-Walked on to Oklahoma.
-Won QB job. Started for 3 years.
-Lead Sooners to 34-6 record.
-Won 2017 Heisman.
Just imagine if he’d been tall enough!
Had a QB I train ask me yesterday:
“Coach, what else can I do to win the starting job?”
My response:
“Simple buddy. Just be willing to go longer, work harder and give more than anyone else.”
Quarterback when you enter your locker room do you add energy or kill it? QBs who add energy: encourage others, work hard and do what they are asked. QBs who steal energy: complain, whine and blame others. Know that your habits affect your performance and your teammates.
Don’t like my Travel Team, I’ll just switch teams.
Don’t like my High School Coach, I’ll just transfer.
Don’t like my College Coach, I’ll just transfer.
What are we teaching young people these days? We need to allow kids to fail and then allow their resilience to develop.
Soft Quarterbacks just kill a Team in so many ways. Hey QB … while mental toughness won’t guarantee you'll win … playing without it pretty much guarantees you won't.
Quarterbacks understand that your teammates won’t pay much attention to what you say but they absolutely watch what you do.
The culture on every team is shaped fully by the behaviors and actions of it leaders.
How did UCF beat Auburn with 5-foot-11 McKenzie Milton at Quarterback? Everyone (well not everyone) said Mckezie was too short to be good at that level. 🤔 My buddy
@WillHewlett
wrote a great article on QB Height:
Quarterbacks accept that a Coaches job is not to make you happy. A Coaches job is to make you better.
Someday when you're 25 you're going to realize that the people who demanded your best were also the ones who cared about you the most.
Quarterbacks you can beat 50% of your competition by consistently showing up and working hard.
You can beat the next 40% by doing things with urgency and detail.
But the last 10% … well that is simply a dogfight!
Quarterbacks accept that you must be able to operate in chaos if you want to be great! Know that you will always be headed into a storm, presently in a storm or coming out of a storm. The storm is always present so condition yourself so you are always prepared to respond!
Coaches and parents we have an opportunity and a duty right now. Our players and children need to see us leading from the front with calm resolve and full trust in God. They need to see we don’t panic but are wise, proactive and most importantly loving and patience with people.
I’ve figured out in coaching Quarterbacks over the years that talent is relatively common. Discipline however is fairly rare.
The combination of talent and discipline is elite. DISCIPLINE IS THE FUEL FOR ACHIEVEMENTS.
QBs know what you can control in games:
• Effort
• Attitude
• Self-talk
• Body language
• Focus
• Execution
Know what you can’t control:
• Winning
• Your opponent
• Refs
• Fans
• Weather
• The past/future
To play your best, focus only on what you can control.

Quarterbacks understand how underrated purposeful breathing is! Science supports that a couple of full pre-snap breaths is an unlock that will bring into the present moment.
Breathing also serves as an anchor …

For all you youth QB dads out there. Consider taking a steady, long-term development approach. Make sure it’s about fun; help foster a joy for the game and a thirst for competition. Step back so your young QB can step forward. Problem solving is a highly underrated skill.
Back Up QBs ... Ben Roethlisberger out for the year. Drew Brees out 6 weeks. Andrew Luck shocker early retirement. Sam Darnold’s mono. Nick Foles broken collar bone. Brutal first two weeks for NFL QBs. You just never know what’s gonna happen.
PREPARE FOR YOUR MOMENT!
Quarterbacks understand that your success is not in never failing but always being eager to learn from and continually willing to rise up from your inevitable failures. Your teammates will believe in your resilience.
Quarterbacks understand a good Coach is going to push you to failure! That is where peak development begins … mastering skills you’re not good at. It is better to fail in pursuit of excellence than to succeed pursuing average.
Is Tom Brady a great QB? Yes.
Is Tom Brady a great athlete? No.
Is Tom Brady a MOBILE QB? YES!
Excellent movement strategies.
Burst. Stabilize. Throw on target.
Not ridged but fluid. Unreal.
Quarterbacks I would wisely accept that your position and football in general is about PREPARATION:
-105 hrs in QB specific offseason training.
-105 hrs in Team offseason workouts.
-120 hrs in Team summer workouts.
-220 hrs in-season Team practice.
That’s 550 hrs in PREPARATION…
I see lots of QBs already posting their off season training videos. That’s cool but I’d also like to see what really matters. How about your:
- eating habits
- screen time
- sleep patterns
- study habits
- social circles
These are the real difference makers!
Quarterbacks your teammates will forget what you said and they will forget what you did, but they will never forget how you made them feel. Build on your relationships!

Navy SEAL’s are often asked:
“Why do you put yourselves through such extreme circumstances?”
Their reply:
“Under pressure you don’t rise to the occasion, you sink to the level of your training. That is why we train so hard.”
Quarterbacks it’s hard to hold your teammates accountable on assignment and effort on Friday nights if you are not also doing it during your week of practice.
Teammates also respond to QBs that lead by example during said week of practice!

ATTENTION QUARTERBACKS
The time is right now!
Games are won in the next 6 Months.
Championships are won in the next 6 Months.
Don’t wait for fall practice to get what you want. Get it now!
LEAD FROM THE FRONT!
Hey Quarterback understand that the emotion of JOY is synonymous with emotional ENERGY. Joyful athletes are energized athletes. Get with your teammates and go have fun. Find your joy and help them find their joy in competing and pursuing excellence.
Quarterback understand:
HS coaches risk their reputation with college coaches every time they recommend a player.
As a QB that means you represent your coach and the future recruitment of your HS program.
Handle yourself in a way that will keep college coaches coming back!
For you QBs pursuing excellence understand that being coachable means you're open to feedback you don't want to hear and you resist the urge to make excuses or be defensive when challenged. Adopt a low ego approach and be focused on getting it right rather than being right.
QB has no offers and ranking sites ignore him.
QB goes to work, gets 5 quick offers and same ranking sites now declare him a 4-star recruit.
QB gets caught up in hype, slows his work, underachieves Senior season and then declared a “BUST”.
You still trust the ranking system?
I can tell almost everything about a QB by their response. The difference between 'average' QBs and 'great’ QBs is their perception of and response to failure.
QBs seeking THROWING power study PUNCHING power. Note how lead shoulder stays closed as front hip opens first creating a twist (spiral tension) in core. Forces accelerated rotation while building big TORQUE in punch extension. Experiment working this into your throwing motion.
I’ve studied this my entire coaching career and I’m convinced that ‘Elite Programs are not ‘perfect’. They are just composed of coaches and players that strongly pursue self-discipline and self-awareness! There is a culture of humility as everyone puts team before themselves.
Hey
#Quarterback
if you’re using social media to promote yourself for recruiting, may I suggest that use your real name, an actual picture of yourself and that your timeline’s content clearly reflects that you are a person that your future coaches and teammates can trust.
For my HS, College and Pro Football Coach friends out there. Everyone thinks they can do our job and wants our job on Friday Night, Saturday or Sunday. But nobody wants our job Sunday night through Friday. And they definitely doesn’t want our job January through July. 🤔
Every coach wants a QB with a big arm and dynamic athleticism but it’s really about vision! Check out this Tom Brady clip. That “eyes in the back your head” feel is developed PERIPHERAL VISION. Quarterback know your craft! Better get with a coach that knows how to teach vision.
The American Medical Society for Sports Medicine just concluded
"Former high school football players show no difference in cognitive function testing and have lower depression scores when compared to non-contact sport controls."
Quarterback self check.
How do you respond to coaching and criticism?
☑️ BAD QBs complain when criticized.
☑️ AVERAGE QBs shut down when criticized.
☑️ GOOD QBs listen when criticized.
☑️ GREAT QBs grow when criticized.
Colts great Robert Mathis started something and it is growing! Colts QB Anthony Richardson also out today investing in his Indy community. Making a difference and building a better future for all.

Sitting stuck in a plane (for a long time) I’m again reminded that there are two types of people ... those that react negatively to their environment and those that positively impact their environment. It’s a choice.
There are people that will never support you because it's you. Then there are people that will always support you because it's you. You just have to find your
people.
It is about SUDDEN START and SUDDEN STOP of CORE TURN!

Watch the FRONT HIP SNAP. Ryan’s glutes are loaded and his inner unit core is engaged and stabilized so his hips can rotate! Note his back leg DOES NOT drive through.
Quarterbacks make every practice this week count! It’s hard to hold your teammates accountable on assignment and effort Friday nights if you are not yourself doing it during your week of practice. Teammates respond to QBs that lead by example!
A QB Coach has to be able communicate with both Introverts and Extroverts.
Introverts need a lot of info so they can internally process and avoid paralysis by analysis.
Extroverts need the key points with minimal instruction and direction. They just want to “grip it and rip it”.
This may shock you but hiring a recruiting service does NOT get you scholarship. Scholarships are earned in the WEIGHT ROOM and FILM ROOM.
Every year D1 offers go out at the end of January when coaches hit the road. If you want this to be you next year ... you better get busy.
For all you dads out there! We got this. We are the difference makers that our children and all of society badly needs right now. We can be the thermostats that can change the temperature in our families and in our communities.
Lots of complaints on "everyone gets a trophy" generation. Issue isn't generation getting trophies but generation GIVING trophies. We need to start honestly affirming strengths, assessing weaknesses and quit telling kids how great they are but let them learn to EARN their success
Brothers and Sisters in Christ please pray. 🙏

The BEHAVIOR it demands of us.

Look forward to meeting you Brian!
I see QBs posting all their off season training videos. Good for you but the best college coaches really want to know your:
- time management
- study habits
- sleep patterns
- social circles
- screen time
- eating habits
These are the real markers in determining QB success.
Practice does NOT make perfect.
Practice makes permanent.
Impacting play occurs when a QB dedicates himself to refining critical movements that will be required in a competitive environment.
@SportcorePro
showing the way.
Quarterbacks you do NOT need to be an elite athlete to make elite throws but you better have elite sequencing and a strong core! Core stability helps transfer the force you generate from your lower body through to your arm.
Brock Purdy provides a perfect example of optimized…
Parents and players just know that you absolutely do NOT need sign up for every "hype" camp, combine or competition that is sent to you. Use this time to train and focus on your development. PREPARE so you can PERFORM when it truly counts at COLLEGE CAMPS this June. Trust me.
