NI is on the verge of recession, has some of the longest hospital waiting times and most deprived communities in the UK. And we're quite possibly heading for a No Deal Brexit. But an MP chooses to invest such energy (and polarise communities further) in the name of a bus stop?

Could a citizens' assembly help politicians deal with stalemate in Northern Ireland? At @QUBelfast we're researching this very topic. 62% of people (in a representative sample) think it would be a good or very good idea. Further research underway; results out soon. #BBCTheView

This made me laugh on a very sad day for Northern Ireland. And it captures something pretty profound, really. To be forever associated with seeking and making peace. #RIPJohnHume

And that's a wrap on #ecpr2022 . Reflecting on a wonderful #DemocraticInnovations section programme, which included 14 panels on a wide range of important topics in this vibrant field.

It's been two weeks since I moved to Belgium. When people realise I'm from the UK, I am yet to hear someone say, "I really admire what your country is doing." Instead, "What is happening to your country?" sums up reactions so far (often with a sense of bemusement or deep pity).

The first Citizens’ Assembly for Northern Ireland recently brought together a cross-section of the public to consider the future of social care. John Garry @HAPPatQUB & I had the pleasure of producing this summary report of participants’ evaluations:
