In the aftermath of 9/11, the producers at PBS KIDS knew they had to create programming that was relevant to children responding to the tragedy...and they certainly delivered.
Special episodes of Arthur, Reading Rainbow, Sesame Street and Zoom were released. Links below 🧵

Happy 24th Anniversary to SpongeBob SquarePants!
SpongeBob will likely top Arthur as longest-running children's animated series next year. Two of the greatest cartoons of all time!
I can accept the difference in our opinions, but a few of you are literally calling me racist. That's gotta stop ✋
These shows have been teaching anti-racist ideas to kids for decades, and that's a major factor WHY they're God Tier.
So cool it with the insensitive insults, ok?

Primal Screen's work for PBS KIDS is nothing short of amazing. Hundreds and hundreds of on-air graphics and design elements helped to solidify the iconic branding that is seen daily on PBS KIDS.
Kudos to everyone, past and present, at
@PrimalScreen

Denny Doherty appreciation tweet
Almost forgot about this, but today would have been his 83rd birthday. He passed away in 2007.
He played the Harbor Master on Theodore Tugboat, serving as the host before and after each episode and narrating each story as well.
Celebrating a happy 50th anniversary to the Public Broadcasting Service from one of their biggest fans! Watching PBS over the years has made a huge impact in my life. Such an important public resource for everybody! 🥳5️⃣0️⃣🎉

Thankfully, Mister Rogers' Neighborhood will be returning this fall! Reruns will be aired on the PBS KIDS 24/7 Channel on weekend mornings beginning in October.
THIS.
Marc Brown himself has confirmed that PBS has committed to airing reruns for "years to come."
Despite no more new episodes, the reruns are timeless and remain relevant.
New content like a podcast, more digital short videos, and games are still coming soon!
#Arthur25
Reminder that:
- It will still air in reruns on PBS Kids
- There is more Arthur content coming this year
It's only the end of the TV show's production. But there's more stuff coming!
@BillyTheToilet
Ehh, I have doubts that the producers selected four stories written by kids that all happened to be parodies of TV shows.
The stories are definitely based on kid submissions, but I think it's more likely the writers put their own spin on them, as clever references for parents.
Sesame Street should've never been put on HBO (and behind a timely paywall) in the first place, but with the major funding issues in the mid 2010s, it was a necessary decision to keep the production afloat. Seeing so many episodes getting dropped from HBO is sad, but... 1/3
💰 On this date in 2008, BIZ KID$ began airing on PBS stations! 💸
