News: I was awarded a "Global Professorship" by the British Academy. I get to spend the next four years at the University of Cambridge in the HPS department with only research duties. I teach my last classes today for the next four years. I'll be heading to the UK in January.

When Canadian soldiers landed at Juno Beach on June 6, 1944, they had the bad luck to face SS soldiers. The Canadians taken prisoner by the SS were tortured and executed. For a member of the SS to get a standing ovation in Canadian parliament is just staggering.
