New York allows co-op boards to reject applicants without providing a reason — an exemption from fair housing laws that allows boards to discriminate without consequence. A bill to fix the problem has been stalled in the
City Council more than a decade.
"If the House ever gets his returns, they should start with his golf write-offs. For instance, did you know Trump keeps eight goats in a pen on his Trump Bedminster course to get an $80,000 farm tax credit?"
When the candidates start talking over each other, the moderators should:
1) Bring the whole thing to a dead halt
2) Give them an order in which to speak ("you, then you senator, then you Mr. Mayor," etc.)
Not complicated. You have to keep control.
Apparently, TN representatives who are expelled can return by running again in a special election. The state constitution also says a lawmaker can't be expelled a second time for the same offense. Expect a national campaign for re-election.

"These children who some are as young as toddlers were relying on neighbors and even strangers to pick them up outside their homes after school and drive them to a community fitness center where people tried to keep them calm."
“We were representing a 3-year-old in court recently who had been separated from the parents. And the child — in the middle of the hearing — started climbing up on the table. It really highlighted the absurdity of what we’re doing with these kids.”
“Trump is mentally impaired, Trump cannot think normally, and Trump is dangerous. When he is removed from office he literally will not understand what happened. He will have to make up a story, tell lies, and rant about Hillary's DNC server."

Many, many laws are simply ignored by the NYPD, and endlessly excused by
@NYCMayor
. It starts with
@placardabuse
and goes from there. Even simple tasks like social distance enforcement turned into illegal profiling. It's a huge part of why people are marching in the streets.
@elizashapiro
In 2015, the Council passed a law requiring NYPD to report on metal detectors & scanners in schools. They refused to comply. Last year, we pushed for principals to evaluate school safety performance. I’m told it never happened. Nothing short of big, structural change will cut it.
Mayor DeBlasio, the members of the NYPD are declaring war on you! We do not respect you, DO NOT visit us in hospitals. You sold the NYPD to the vile creatures, the 1% who hate cops but vote for you. NYPD cops have been assassinated because of you. This isn’t over, Game on!
Narrator: Even as the House moved to impeach him, President Trump moved on to other matters, attending to the people's business with his customary grace and eloquence.
Depressing to see serious issues reduced to entertainment for conspiracy cranks and the idle rich.

A tragedy for his family for sure. But advocates should stop omitting mention of the actual legal basis of his deportation: cocaine trafficking that led to his serving 10 years in a U.S. prison. Bush and Obama administrations both sought his expulsion.
NYC immigrant rights leader Jean Montrevil was deported to Haiti earlier today. He had lived in NYC for 31 years and has four U.S.-born children.

It is 100% legal to arrive at the border and request asylum. It's one thing to wish that the world's refugees would simply disappear, but don't pretend that childish xenophobia has any legal basis.
.
@tonymelone
Why do you conflate migrants illegally crossing the border and declaring asylum and then being given a 10 year window to go to court with long defined process of legal immigration?

Seconds into Howard Schultz’s remarks here at Barnes & Noble in Manhattan, a heckler yells: “Don’t help elect Trump. You egotistical billionaire asshole.”
He specifically called out “the elected officials that ran to the cameras today, acted in a solemn manner, called for prayers, and will once again do absolutely nothing.”

Worth noting that several candidates for Manhattan DA (and for NYC Mayor) say shoplifting should not be prosecuted because that’s “criminalizing poverty.”

“No automaker is anywhere close to making medical gear such as ventilators and remain months away — if not longer. Nor do the car companies need the president's permission to move forward.”
Some cops have a barely concealed contempt for judges, courts, the law and ultimately the public. That toxic, unprofessional attitude now appears to be NYPD policy, blessed and encouraged by City Hall. Nothing good can come from it.
Gather round, because it’s time for another episode of the “Revolving Door of NYC Criminal Justice!”
Today, we meet Ruddell Faulkner, who was arrested for the SIXTH time this year! He is on pace for being arrested 36 times this year. Can Ruddel do it? Will the Judges of New York…

Five years after cameras caught a cop using a chokehold to kill an unarmed man as he gasped and begged for his life, the mighty crimebusters at NYPD are still twiddling their thumbs. Perhaps they think everyone will forget this crime.
Police Commissioner James O'Neill (

The number of cases and deaths of the China Virus is far exaggerated in the United States because of

We are now seeing the chaotic and predictable consequences of NY's decision to lift mandates based on the logic of politics and polls rather than pubic health.
Several of Gov. Kathy Hochul’s top aides are apparently sick with COVID, according to people familiar with the matter. Some had been involved with in-person budget negotiations.

This is a really disturbing display from the podium, one in keeping with the president's view of and statements about the press for three years, but taking place during a pandemic. He talks about how poorly he feels he's treated.

Inconvenient fact: The Monroe County DA could have chosen to charge him with a violent felony, which would have qualified the case for potential bail, and pushed to keep him behind bars. Sandra Doorley, the DA, is a co-chair of Mr. Zeldin’s campaign.

David Dinkins took the helm at a time when incredible economic, cultural and political storms nearly tore the city apart. In private, as in public, he inevitably gave full credit and lavish thanks to the many people who supported him along the way. Honored to have known him.
PERSPECTIVE: In 1969, over 100 Black students (some of them armed!) seized and held a building at Cornell University. It ended peacefully. One of the youngest occupiers, Zachary Carter, went on to become a respected judge, a U.S. Attorney, and NYC's Corporation Counsel.
