Well this is not complicated.
@PressSec
has patently misrepresented what happened here. White House aide aggressively tries to take the mic from
@Acosta
and he never lays a hand on her. The truth still matters.
BREAKING: White House aide grabs and tries to physically remove a microphone from CNN Correspondent Jim Acosta during a contentious exchange with President Trump at a news conference.
If you told me that for the next few months a top CDC doctor would come out and give us an update every day on the coronavirus, I would find that very reassuring. Just the basics. Here's what we learned today, here's what happened. A real medical authority.
Didn’t take long for Mueller to once again vindicate President
@realDonaldTrump
. No collusion. No obstruction. And now Mueller all but admits it was all along a total witch hunt
NYT: "Even if Mr. Trump, 74, remains asymptomatic, he will have to withdraw from the campaign trail and stay isolated in the White House for an unknown period of time. If he becomes sick, it could raise questions about whether he should remain on the ballot at all."
Before the whistleblower filed a formal complaint with ICIG, he tried to do it through the CIA’s internal watchdog system. The WH found out and quashed it. So the whistleblower escalated. A revealing story of how fragile the whistblower system is:
24 hours ago, in front of a teleprompter, Trump said this:
"Now is the time to set destructive partisanship aside, so destructive, and find the courage to answer hatred with unity, devotion, and love."
Tonight on Twitter, he said this:
Beto (phony name to indicate Hispanic heritage) O’Rourke, who is embarrassed by my last visit to the Great State of Texas, where I trounced him, and is now even more embarrassed by polling at 1% in the Democrat Primary, should respect the victims & law enforcement - & be quiet!
2,977
The number of people killed on September 11, 2001.
3,011
The number of people killed by the coronavirus on December 9, 2020.
Think about that. A 9-11 level of death, every day, is upon us.
Adam Schiff now doesn’t seem to want the Whistleblower to testify. NO! Must testify to explain why he got my Ukraine conversation sooo wrong, not even close. Did Schiff tell him to do that? We must determine the Whistleblower’s identity to determine WHY this was done to the USA..
We all look back at moments in history and wonder how did people—did leaders—let something patently immoral and destructive occur on their watch day after day, week after week, and say nothing—do nothing. Remain silent. That’s happening right now in the US.
An absolute MUST read NYT fact check of Kavanaughs testimony — which leaves little doubt he was being knowingly dishonest in his sworn testimony about his days as a young man:
The thing about being a US Senator is that a six-year term is deliberately designed to insulate members from the short-term repercussions of any single vote, no matter how significant the blow back may be.
John Bolton, who is about as hard-core a Republican as they come: "I think it’s very important for leaders of the Republican Party to explain to our voters that .... in fact, Trump has lost the election and that his claims of election fraud are baseless."
If you work at Fox News, you own this -- what
@JaneMayerNYer
is outlining here is so pervasive and deep-rooted that it cannot be explained away or compartmentalized. This is not a news network anymore:
This is a genuinely baffling Tweet. The mainstream media — minus the cable news network she worked at and profited from for years— has been the source of courageous, reliable and thoughtful journalism about the coronavirus since the start of the epidemic.
I’m so frustrated right now ... that we can’t trust the media to tell us the truth without inflaming it to hurt Trump ... that Trump has misled so many times we no longer know when to trust his word ... that even I as a journalist am not sure where to turn for real info on COVID.
My therapist once told me people mock what they most fear for themselves. Trump frequently mocks people for:
1. Losing fame/status/limelight.
2. Looking old/ugly/disheveled/overweight.
3. Being stupid/seen as dopey/a lightweight.
4 Being humiliated.
To everyone asking why reporters didn't dig up the George Santos story before the election ... a fair question .... ask yourself when you last paid for your local newspaper, like Newsday on Long Island, which covers it day in and out.
SCOOP: Trump paid just $750 in federal income taxes in 2016, the year he won. He paid just $750 in 2017, his first year in office. And he paid no income taxes in 10 of the previous 15 years.

Trying to follow this logic. President tells governors to open states when they think it's safe. President then immediately undermines that message by sending "Liberate" Tweets designed to incite protests against governors.
So far, the most significant documented acts of electoral interference (and, yes, fraudulence) have been committed by the president of the United States, who is nevertheless alleging interference and fraud by everyone else.
President Trump personally called the two Republican canvassers in Wayne County,
@AP_Politics
reports. Now they’re trying to rescind their support for certifying the vote.
Can't speak for rest of media, but the Daily is deliberately playing down these events because they are clearly not policy remarks or policy announcements. They are deliberate attempts to inflame the electorate before the midterms. Just happens to be from the White House.
Per Sarah Sanders: "The President will make brief remarks on the illegal immigration crisis and give an update on border security today in the Roosevelt Room at 4:15pm."
A major prime time Fox News host saying, without reservation, that he favors Russia (authoritarian US adversary, which hacked our 2016 election) over Ukraine (fledgling democracy, US ally and victim of Russian aggression).
This is.....really something.
Tucker: "Why do I care what is going on in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia? I'm serious. Why shouldn't I root for Russia? Which by the way I am."
It’s genuinely curious to me that the Sunday shows have on the same guests week after week, amplifying familiar partisan voices in ways that don’t seem all that illuminating.
I proudly present every Michael Barbaro-ism from
@nytimes
podcast The Daily in 35 seconds. 95% of you will have no clue what this is. I made it for the other 5.
@mikiebarb
, if you ever see this, just know that it was made with love and I listen every day 😁❤
If this gets a free pass, anything goes.
"I have no obligation to be honest with the media - cause they're just as dishonest as anybody else."
- Corey Lewandowski, in Congress, today.
For the Xth time, Ivanka Trump spoke with her father about X controversy he touched off, telling him X was problematic, according to X people close to her, who claimed that despite mountains of evidence, this conversation mattered.
When we started The Daily almost two years ago, we had no idea who would listen. Turns out a lot of people wanted a different approach to news. Today we owe a huge thank you to our listeners for making the show the most downloaded podcast of 2018, according to Apple.
Trump just praised Pompeo "for the job he did on her" -- meaning NPR reporter who Pompeo mistreated.
The latest case of Trump celebrating poor treatment of the media.
The appropriate response from Fox reporter at that moment? “Mr President, I must object. CNN is a real network.” Fine to then ask Q but to ignore and abet that false claim is journalistic malpractice.
The reporters covering Romney went shopping with him as well in 2012. I was there. He bought his wife a white puffy coat. It was very sweet. What’s the problem with reporters covering Harris as she stops by local businesses?
Some in our media can’t contain their glee & delight in reporting that the U.S. has more
#CoronaVirus
cases than
#China
Beyond being grotesque,its bad journalism
We have NO IDEA how many cases China really has but without any doubt its significantly more than why they admit to
He was a Fox News watcher who didn't think COVID-19 was a real thing. His kids did, warning him not to take an upcoming cruise. He went anyway. Weeks later, he died from the virus:
Woodward warned on today's Daily that people who speak to him for his books, including "Fear," frequently call him to say, hey, sorry, but I will contradict what you wrote in public, to save face, even though what you wrote is all true .....
According to a survey of epidemiologists the coronavirus outbreak probably won’t peak before May, meaning it will be getting worse and worse and worse over the next two months, and for much of that time, presumably, exponentially worse.
Everyone in NYC will have a little quake story from this little quake, here's mine: it struck at the precise moment I turned on my gas range to make an egg. Thus, the first thing I thought was that I had somehow blown up my apartment building here in BK.
Sunday's entire
@nytimes
front page is a partial list of Covid-19 victims. "The 1,000 people here reflect just 1% of the toll. None were mere numbers."
A question for Senators now: Does it become somewhat hard to imagine a person this angry, and this openly furious at Democrats, being on the Supreme Court, where he will rule, over and over, on Democratic pieces of legislation and priorities?
Sen. Whitehouse breaking down the conservative-Federalist Society judicial pipeline in a very simple and effective way with one of those judges, ACB, sitting right in front of him.
If I'm a reporter on Capitol Hill today, I'm camped outside

office until he addresses this, no? It's just a few years old. He said it in public. It's clear race-baiting.
“I would like you to do us a favor, though,” Trump told Zelensky.
Less than two hours later, a hold had been ordered on US financial assistance to Ukraine — at the insistence of Trump.
Timelines don’t get much more damning:
WaPo’s
@Gabriel_Pogrund
found Mark Judge holed up in Bethany Beach, Del. He declined comment. His lawyer said he’s a recovering alcoholic and under much stress.
At this point, given Trump’s repeated lies about the election, the risk they pose and likelihood he will repeat them, the bar will be very high to justify carrying anything he says live between now and January 20th.
These appearances now raise complex questions. Henceforth how does press treat Sarah Sanders? Does it rely on her less? Remind listeners/readers/viewers she is a proven dissembler every time we quote her? Or what?
Pressed repeatedly on her comments on FBI agents, Sarah Sanders tells
@GStephanopoulos
, "It was the heat of the moment, meaning that it wasn't a scripted talking point. I'm sorry that I wasn't a robot like the Democratic Party" was about Mueller probe.
CUOMO on what he’s seen in NYC — after watching people interacting in groups/close proximity in parkS on Saturday. “It’s arrogant...it’s self-destructive. It has to stop and it has to stop now.”
This is genuinely terrifying data from the head of the CDC last night
"We’re in that range potentially now of starting to see 1,500 to 2,000 to 2,500 deaths A DAY from this virus."
Is America more or less giving up on containing the virus?
The victory for Biden in Georgia — a once reliably Republican state whose politics have been pushed to the left — means he flipped five states that Mr. Trump won in 2016
If you work at Twitter and see this happening on your platform—leader of the free world hijacking it for destructive lies — you have to ask a lot of hard questions.
The Twitter label on this extremely disturbing tweet is the most milquetoast response possible. We’ve nearly come to the point when anyone using this platform to exchange true information is complicit in a terrible charade. How long can we enable this weak approach by Twitter?
They r kids. They don’t know the sacrifices made by military and their families. That’s why I won’t put them on radio or TV. They are just kids. God knows what I said at 17. Look past them to the issue:We don’t want nutters/fanatics w/ guns. How to prevent consistent w/ 2nd A ?
In February of 2009, NYT stock dipped below $5 a share. today, for the first time, it hit $50 a share. A wonderful vote of confidence from the markets that the company is healthy and thriving.
Stating the utterly obvious here, but congressional testimony driven by staff interviews are massively more effective than show-boating lawmaker-driven interviews.
So far FOURTEEN House Republicans have voted against a bill condemning Anti-Semitism, Anti-Muslim and Other Hatred. Wow. This is going to be hard to explain.
BIG: Acting attorney general has said, in this audio, that Russia did NOT interfere in the US election. That's a false statement. And he now OVERSEES the investigation into that interference.
BREAKING: Here's audio we found of Matthew Whitaker: "The left is trying to sow this theory that essentially Russians interfered with the US election. Which has been proven false. They did not have any impact in the election, that is clear from Obama Admin."
#WhitakerMustRecuse
Um, it's not okay for a cable news contributor to ask the EPA administrator for favors like this and still be on TV talking about him. At. All. CC:
