The
@NCAA
cross country champs this weekend, has me thinking back on winning 15 years ago. The first of many comebacks for me. They were filled with failures and successes. Many lessons learned, but the biggest came from this race. Don’t throw in the towel! Give it one more shot!
Today was a very tough day but there was no way I was dropping out! I struggled over the last 12k but thinking of my kids waiting for me at the end got to the finish. That was the best I had in me today. Amazing to see
@scottfaubs
and
@jwardy21
run so tough! Great work guys!
Blood, sweat and a lot of tears went into this! Feeling so blessed to be here for tomorrow’s
@bostonmarathon
! Tomorrow means something very special to me. I will give everything I have out there!
This one was so special! So proud of
@ollie_hoare97
on his Commonwealth Games Victory today. He has the heart of champion and today he showed that it’s what’s right there that matters most!
If you have prepared well, believe in yourself and enter the arena with absolute focus, anything is possible!
10 years ago today was a day I will never forget. Breaking the American Record running 12:56 for 5000m in Zurich was a moment like no other I have ever felt.
This Olympic Trials Marathon Training was a brutal battle for me but I’m still standing! I learned long ago I always have another round in me and kept fighting. It’s an honor to be here to fight it out with all these great athletes for one last chance at that Olympic dream!
It’s always a good feeling to break the tape! Had a blast to win
@RunRocknRoll
New Orleans half in 61:24. Had to dig deep to kick the last 400m but I surprised myself with where my fitness was. 61 minute half marathons are my bread and butter I guess!
The news of Alberto Salazar’s and Dr. Brown’s ban has taken a few days to settle in. While it was not easy to testify against someone who was once so close to me, I chose to assist and cooperate fully with USADA’s investigation into all practices done at the Nike Oregon Project
Approaching one year in retirement. Averaging 40mpw. Still doubling occasionally and running hard. Not as fast as I use to be but I’m really loving each run as my time to run how I feel and just be in those moments before I heading back to the rest of the day.
Ran an easy 7 miles at the track today this morning since I had the kids with me. Nearly 30 laps and my son high fived me and said I’m looking good and I’ll be ready for Tokyo...every lap!

Wiped from the record boards! Slowly fading into obscurity…
Really impressive racing from these high school boys! Newbury Park with crazy depth. And of course my Niwot neighbor Zane Bergen and MI champion Riley Hough all 14:10 or faster.
Newbury Park HS wins the RunningLane XC Championships
1. Colin Sahlman 14:03.29
2. Leo Young, 14:05.07
3. Lex Young 14:05.49
4. Zane Bergen 14:09.91
All under
@djritzenhein
’s previous U.S. HS XC 5K record of 14:10.40 from 2000 🔥
An incredible night! 🇺🇸record for Alicia! 30:03. Tough front running rewarded. Joe pushing to world standard PB 27:07. Jonas debut 27:26. Thank you Josette/Ollie for the selfless contribution to your teammates! Back to Boulder to recharge and keep building!

Devastated to say I won’t be racing Boston Marathon. I am truly gutted by this now. Best of luck to all my fellow runners who have earned their spot and are racing this Monday. A little more posted below.
This one🥇is for Alicia Monson!🤩
@leashamonson
earned her first USATF title with a 10 km win at the 2022 USATF Cross Country Championships presented by
@Toyota
!
With a 17-second lead, Monson broke the tape in 34:01! 👏

King for the day on my 37th birthday! Spent the day running with my family. Kicked off the last two months training block to try and making my 4th Olympic Team. I even got to train with my boy, I think he has his Dad’s form! A good day doing what I love with the ones I love.❤️
Watching
@Thommo10k
finish and his interview, just so awesome! Five years ago at Great North Run we sat in the bus after the race both feeling old and beat up. He said he was going to retire soon. He stayed in it and it couldn’t have been a more epic reward. Congrats Chris!
“I’m 39! This doesn’t happen!”
Such a good interview by
@Thommo10k
w/
@TimHutchings1
after winning the British Olympic Marathon Trials.
Thompson became a father earlier in the week and just set a personal best of 2:10:50 at the age of 39 to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.
20 years ago today: an 18-year-old Dathan Ritzenhein earns the bronze medal in the junior race at the World Cross Country Championships in Belgium.
No American man has won an individual medal at World XC since.
Matt Tegenkamp was 5th. Race won by a certain Kenenisa Bekele.
What and honor and privilege to be the coach of the newly formed On Athletics Club! I’ve been bursting to let that out! We have an incredible team of young athletes led by
@JoeKleckerxc
. The rest of the team coming next week! We hope to inspire you with their journey!

What a great day for

@chimarathon
!
Today I was so proud of how he committed and stayed with the plan we worked on. He has so much heart and determination. Over the past…
Impromptu 4:58 last mile today. Talent never goes away but fitness does! After two months of being busy and just running for sanity, it was nice to actually run something other than just easy. I was squeezed for time so quality over quantity lately!
First National Title for
@ollie_hoare97
and punching his ticket to
@WCHoregon22
and Comm Games! He ran a fantastic 1:49 last 800m to secure his spot down in Sydney.
A great day whenever you get to run straight through the open streets of Chicago! Thank you
@RunRocknRoll
for a great weekend. It was warm and very humid but a great chance to see where my fitness is. See you again Chicago in 12 weeks on marathon weekend!
This guy just continues to amaze me!
@ollie_hoare97
running a world leading 3:53.35 Mile in South Carolina tonight. Solo again after 800m and still grinds it out. Rest time now for these guys and we rebuild and for next year!
Missing
@bostonmarathon
last year was gut wrenching, been think all year about it. Thank you
@jhboston26
for giving me the opportunity to be part of the most iconic marathon in the world! Going all in with this incredible American field!
Dropping out of today’s race was not what I wanted but truthfully it was a victory to get where I was today.
I made it to 22 miles today and that was almost double the mileage I have done outside in the last two…
My boys are fit! Last really hard session done tonight with some time trials on tired legs. They have trained and prepared very well. Now time to rest up and focus!
Made it to Boston! The work has been done. Thank you
@NTRecovery
for bringing this new 2.0 pulse unit to the hotel. The next few days are all about getting the body and the mind rested and ready for Monday!
A great day for
@parkerstinson
w/ a huge PR
@ChiMarathon
, 2:10:53! I’m so proud of his determination and heart, couldn’t ask for more as his coach! I’m just glad MY heart didn’t burst biking to see him as much as possible the second half of the course. BTW, that’s my HR not his!
3rd place in 3:59.00 for
@JoeKleckerxc
in the USATF Road Mile championships this morning. Good practice closing well and running a championship race! This year he made the most of his opportunities running four PR’s and closing out well in a championship race! Good work in Covid!
17 years ago today I made a comeback to become NCAA XC National Champion. It might have been the hardest I ever pushed. I pulled strength from somewhere I didn’t know existed that day. Was not possible without Mark, Heather and
@CUBuffsTrack
. Thanks for one I will never forgot!
Just two more days left on our Championship week calendar. Today marks the day CU running great
@djritzenhein

After three years coaching Dawn, she continues to amaze me. From 2:51->2:33 in Berlin yesterday! She believed she was a middle distance runner but now is one of the best Masters Runners in the world. She never has an excuse. She always does the work. Congrats Dawn!
Truly believing in someone is the best gift you can give.
Thank you Dathan for continuing to push me outside my comfort zone in training, for being a person I never want to give excuses to, for BELIEVING in me.
@djritzenhein
Want to work with the OAC? We’re looking for the right person to bring on as an assistant coach for the team. You’ll work daily with some of the best athletes in the world and and for an incredible company.
Someone I need to send a special thanks is my longtime manager
@Lilot1TrackMind
! He was with me my entire professional career. He compiled this 160+ race history for me. Known by many for his statistics, but to me he is simply a friend I am eternally grateful for. Thank you Dan!
As a 16 year old junior in high school, these two men from MI went all in for American distance running. Their influence on me as a young rising star was incredible. 20 years later I proudly wear the vest as they continue to support me and so many others!
Today was indeed a great day at the office! Very pleased with my 2nd place finish today, feeling good one month out from
@bostonmarathon
. The
#UnitedNYCHalf
was an incredible event,
@nyrr
have outdone themselves!
Grinding my way to a 4th place finish in 47:19 for the crim_events 10 mile.
Even with tired marathon legs I loved doing my 5th CRIM. It’s an incredible event and a blessing to be a part of.
Now a few easy days to…
"I do get compared to my dad a lot, and I don’t think that’s necessarily a bad thing. But I feel like I have made myself known for who I am more now."

(NOP). I can attest this was a vigorous and comprehensive process. I stand behind the findings of the panel. These findings are important to continue to promote clean running in our sport. I hope these conclusions provide some reassurance to clean runners everywhere.
Might be in for a world of pain doing my first 5k in 3 years against this stacked field!😬 I’m used to being in town that weekend for
@NYRR
@nycmarathon
but I think there’s still some speed in these legs!

Elle Purrier St. Pierre rebounds from finishing third in the 1500m yesterday by winning the women’s 3000m in 8:41.53 today – 28.88 seconds for the final lap! Sheesh!
