Congratulations
@des_linden
! You’ve trained, raced and conducted yourself as a champion for years. Today you won the
@BostonMarathon
, a race full of champions. Today, the world recognizes you as the champion you’ve always been. You did it and and you did it the right way!
I came to USA as an immigrant because my parents wanted an opportunity for a better future. On this day 20 years ago I obtained my USA citizenship. For the last 2 decades it has been an honor to represent the USA and the sport of running. Thanks to those who helped w/ the journey
Due to injury and Covid, it has been 45 days since the last time I ran.
Today’s 2 mile run, might not be a 5k, 10k, half-marathon or marathon but it was a good start towards one. Just excited to run again!
#RunToWin
Today, I ran to honor the life of Ahmaud Arbery. My heart goes out to Ahmaud’s family. My youngest brother is 26, the same age Ahmaud would have turned today. This tragedy is something that creates fear in me, my family, my friends & the African-American community.
#irunwithmaud
My mom is not a runner, an engineer, a Dr., or a lawyer. My mother was not able 2 pursue an education. But she’s birthed & raised many college graduates, who are making positive contributions 2 our society. My mom & dad sacrificed their dreams & comfort 4 their kids.Thank U, Mama
OMG!!! I rode the Subway by myself for the first time! I was just as nervous as I was before my first NYC Marathon. This is an even faster way of getting around NYC than running. 😀

6 yrs ago today... I struggled and debated dropping out when I was in 21st place at halfway. I committed to finishing & ended up in 4th. In many ways, that race made Boston 2014 possible. In running & in life, focus on the moment to accomplish current & future goals.

10 years ago, I won the most significant race of my life. I still get chills watching this video 10 years later. Thank you everyone who celebrated this special victory with me in Boston last week.
Congratulations Shalane. You have inspired & touched men and women around the globe. Your tenacity and drive to excellence is unparalleled. Congrats on AMAZING career. Thank you for your gift to put smiles & tears of joy on our faces. You are 💯 Class and a remarkable Champion.
17 years ago today I set the American Record in the 10k (27:13). When I was a miler in high school, I used to think the 10k was an “old man” race. Now that I have retired from a career of 26 competitive marathons, I don’t want to know what that makes me today...
Happy 81st Birthday to my dad, who walked over 225 miles to create better opportunities for his family. His strength, faith and love are inspirational.
Today is our 32nd Anniversary. As an immigrant, I’m grateful to the USA for the opportunity it has provided for me & my family. My dad walked over 225 miles toward this dream. There are no easy dreams. Hard work & discipline are the fundamentals to success. It’s all been worth it
I simply love to run. Maybe my God-given gifts make running easier for me, but we can all enjoy the beauty of running on our own. We just do it at our own pace.
#RUNTOWIN
I love the power of sports.
I love the challenge of 26.2 miles
I love to reward medals to those that complete the challenge.
I love that running brings us TOGETHER. Congratulations
@JimmieJohnson
& ALL

Dear miles,
I cannot run you as fast as I used to. Fortunately, I can still cover the distances from a mile to the marathon. Today it was 10K in 44:46 in honor of
@ajcprr
. We are not running together in person so that we can run together another day. Stay safe, but stay fit.
Thank you Mary Cain for your amazing courage to share your story and push for changes so others don’t have to go through what you went through. I am standing with you.
Thanks to
@ChrisChavez
for giving us a platform to share our stories. Thank you to my fellow athletes for standing with me. Our voices are powerful and we can’t stay silent. Change happens when we come together and stand up to a toxic system.
Stay committed to the task at hand. This picture shows me at the Rio Olympics, where I had to stop 7 times and fell hard at the finish line. But I still made it to the finish line! We can all push up & comeback from tough times.

33 years ago today, my family and I arrived in San Diego. I had a nice chat with my parents who sacrificed so much to create better opportunities for their children. Thanks also to all of the people who have contributed to me and my family’s journey over the years.
9 years ago on this day at this very spot, my dream came true and I became a NYC Marathon Champion. When I didn’t qualify for the 2008 Olympics, NYC was my personal Olympics and winning this race in 2009 became my gold medal.

My 26.2 mile journey from Hopkinton to

Dick Hoyt has left a deep legacy for his family and our running community. My thoughts and prayers are with Rick & the Hoyt family, and all Team Hoyt members around the nation, including my friends on Team Hoyt San Diego. We will miss you, Dick, but your legacy will stay alive.
I’m excited to announce my upcoming memoir, 26 MARATHONS, which will be published in March 2019. The book is full of my stories & experiences from the 26 marathons I’ve competed in and the lessons I’ve learned along the way. Available for pre-order wherever books are sold.
Today 3yrs ago
@Olympics
, I didn’t have my best day, but my parents, coaches & many wise people I’ve met in the sport of running taught me 2 “Finish what you start & make the most of it.” I did just that in Rio, even though it meant stopping 7X & falling at the finish. run 2 win
For almost 32 yrs, CA has been home. Thanks to my families, friends, teammates, schoolmates & the community for molding me to be the person that I am. Remember “The end of one race is the beginning of another.” Next chapter: Tampa, Fl
Today, I had the great honor to train & pace my older brother Aklilu (his friend Ermias & our nephew, Jacob). When I was in 7th grade, Aklilu taught me the basic of running & breathing. Today, I paced him to 1:52:25 for his first 1/2 marathon. So proud of him. Congrats guys!
John Longo recognized me during his lunchtime run in a different direction. After 10 min together, I introduced him to
@des_linden
. Who said running was a lonely sport? Nice to meet you John. Thanks to Desi for stopping. John said “This absolutely made my day!”

10 years ago on this day at this very minute, my dream of winning the

11 years ago today, I was fortunate enough to win the biggest marathon in the world. It was always my running DREAM to win the NYC marathon. It took 5 attempts to get this elusive victory, but that just made it sweeter. Thanks to everyone who contributed to my journey and success
Well...Congrats to everyone who toughed out the very rough conditions today and got to the finish line. We all took showers for 26.2 miles and froze at the same time. How long was your post race hot shower to defrost?
It’s an honor to see “New York Times Bestseller“ on the cover of this book. Thank you to everyone who helped make this a reality

For the past 16 yrs I competed
@BixSeven
2 win/finish on the podium. Today, I wasn’t sure what pace to run but wanted to run w/ the masses. Well, I met Tracey, who wanted to run 6:18/mi & I said I’ll help you. Well, we managed 2 find each other & run the last 3mi together
Competitively racing at the 26.2 mile distance is behind me. Now I run for the love of the sport and have fun at this pace.

Rest In Peace to my father in law Aboy/ Memhir Stefanos. It has been an honor to have spent time with you on this Earth. Thanks for the teachings and leadership you have left behind. You are a fighter for sure. I always loved talking to you about fam & sports. U will be missed
While I was running the
@TallyMarathon
half marathon last weekend, I heard a mother say “you missed him!” to her son as I ran past them. So I quickly made a U turn to take this photo. Glad we got to meet.
Happy 87th birthday to my dad!
Your vision and dreams for your family have become reality. We all thank you, we honor you and we wish you a Happy Birthday, Baba! May God continue to give you good health.
I love you and miss spending time with you, thank you for everything❤️
I saw this quote and it reminded me of life and my last Olympic race. During the Rio Olympics Marathon, I had to stop seven times. But I didn’t quit. At the finish line, I fell down. But I got up for the eighth time and did a Push Up.

Yesterday, my family & I celebrated our 31st year in the USA. Honored to be written about alongside many other amazing immigrants that came to USA. Delighted my story is told to others by
@RWallaceBooks
. Thank you to everyone who contributed and shared to our journey.
7 years ago today, we suffered significantly from the bombing at the Boston Marathon. Let us remember those still dealing with the consequences of this traumatic event. Let us remember that we are STRONG. And that together we will continue to become STRONGER.

Yesterday I was able to do my last long run for the Boston Marathon. It was not easy but I got it in. Preparation is the key to success and hopefully less soreness. How was your last long run?
After today the hay is in the barn.
