Xiamen is a city in southeast China, with an island center and suburbs along a "mainland". It's got a lot going for it in transit and urbanism. Its metro has 3 lines w/ 3 more under construction. Line 1's crossing between the island and mainland is gorgeous af (1/4🧵)

Similarities between NC's Charlotte-Raleigh and Ohio's 3C corridors: - Connects state's 3 largest metros in a line - Cities it connects has mid local transit and sprawl issues - ~200 miles end to end The difference: NC's has 5 daily RT trains, Ohio's has 0. We need 3C+D rail.
