I was re-reading Thomas Nagel's wonderful essay 'Death' and looked to see where it first appeared. I expected it to be NYRB or some such, but it was Nous. I can't imagine it being published there or indeed in any other top journal today, and our journals are all the worse for it.

I’m so chuffed that my Wittgenstein book will have @LouiseRChapman ’s amazing artwork on the cover! When it was photographed a fly landed on the top right corner. I asked the publisher to use that shot, explaining why it was appropriate, and to my pleasant surprise, they agreed!

Today was my last day as a full Professor at my university. I’ll remain a Visiting Professor, and have several books coming out later this year. From tomorrow, I shall be focusing on @lex_academic . Our mission is to help academics to publish better.
