It’s my 64th birthday today. It feels like a milestone year in a good way, like I’ve made it - kinda as if I’ve written a whole song and whatever comes next is maybe another wacky bridge or extra verse or two but I’ve gotten to the chorus for sure, and I feel so thankful!

Can't forget what an impact Robert Gordon's style and commitment to rockabilly & roots music had on us back in the punk days in NYC, saw him with Link Wray and yes Professor Longhair opening one night! Loved him with Chris Spedding too. He was so cool and elegant.

When I toured w/Warren Zevon he said I reminded him of Richard Lewis. They talked on the phone a lot. I think he meant I was funny when I was anxious & took it as a huge compliment, there was nobody funnier ! I hope those 2 are listening to an air conditioner hum somewhere nice.

So sad Wilko Johnson has left this world. He was a religion! I feel lucky to have seen him play and Eric & I even opened for him at the 100 Club in London. It was like sharing a dressing room with Buddha who then proceeded to burn the place down. Condolences to all who loved him.

Covid in my dad's assisted living means he can't have visitors so I took him out in my car the other day. I ate an empanada in full view of a man who forever insisted the only food allowed in an auto was a Tic Tac. And he didn't blink. In the end love is really all that matters.
