Haven’t had time to play Dragonflight, but cool to hear players dig the shift to open zones with more negative space. There was a vocal minority on the team that pushed for that, and it wasn’t an easy sell. Grats LD team!

2/ When looking at what to do next, I knew I wanted to do something with a smaller team (for a change) and join a team with similar cultural values that I was raised on at Blizzard. Values like putting gameplay (the player experience) first. I knew this would be a high bar.

Playing my Shadow Priest, in hindsight there's a small change I think I would make to Dark Thoughts when using Mind Sear, which is something like... If channelling Mind Sear, the DT proc (Mind Blast) would change to an AOE that strikes around the target (10yd radius)...

How to achieve that cozy community vibe in your MMO but also not have queues? So far, I don’t think we’ve found a great solution. In order to really solve it, we have to rethink social (and pretty much everything) for the next-gen MMO. So many lessons learned.

With most lead devs, when you go to them with a bad idea they will tell you no or give you reasons why it couldn't work (or some shallow affirmation). With Jeff, he would talk you through the idea, asking questions so you could figure out the flaws yourself. Very hard to do.

Right in the feels. I think what resonates with me most in this vid is the feeling of when your guild/friend group churns and stops playing, which isn't always "game is bad atm" (ie IRL takes over, new games, work/school etc). Highlights that community/social/guild is #1 .

Something that sucks about survival games in multiplayer is I play with friends, logout, come on the next day and they’re already at tier 5 and building the spaceship to the moon while I’m still at tier 2 wood league. So I just missed out on 60% of the game. I know I often play…
