Little known rule! We saw it go around on this here app last week. Rule: If you fair catch a punt, you can free kick it with absolutely no pressure from the defense for a 3 point try attempt on the first play after that fair catch. They did it with 5 seconds left. Won 59-57.

37 years ago today, I was 9 years old. My dad mysteriously woke us up for breakfast that he made. He did it every now and then on the weekdays. That was my last memory of dad. He died that night in a car accident on Interstate 5 in Escondido. Tell your loved ones you love them.

I stole this idea about a decade ago when I saw the Chargers doing it. Moving your kicker's net to the endzone you're kicking INTO is a great hack to save him time and energy. Might be saving him 60 yard jog when it matters most: for game winning kick with 5 seconds left!

If you’re having a hard time finding a longsnapper in your program, take a look at a QB on your roster. Probably don’t want QB1 out there. BUT, some of my best longsnappers have been QB2 or QB3! Just tell them they are throwing it between their legs. I ain’t kidding.

Nobody likes to work in any position where you aren’t supported by your boss. Coaching, I think, is much different because of what is at stake, and how much you’re compensated for your job. At some point “it’s not worth it” to work your tail off, and not be supported, for $4500.

Spoke with a private school AD recently who pays coaches hourly. How? You get hired at a set hourly rate, let's call it $28/hour. You get a cap per week during the season, and one out of season. 32 hours a week in season. 16 for spring and summer. Anyone else paying hourly?

Here’s a little thing, but a big reason Alabama is ELITE. Look how fast this water boy gets on the field. BIG doors swing on LITTLE hinges. It’s a top to bottom philosophy of greatness that makes them ELITE.

Years ago I was talking with a very respectable Head Coach about his philosophy of hiring and putting together a staff. He told me: “Chris, the 2 most important coaches you need to hire are your OL coach and your Head Freshman Coach.” Lots of truth to that.

The unregulated 7 on 7 culture is negatively impacting high school football. It's getting ridiculous . . . Viral clips where these guys where their sunglasses and pajamas, throw the ball back in an opponent's face, & all of the theatrics are allowed from January to July . .

Game is getting ugly. Multiple fights after the play and penalties on both teams. Referees and game officials talking to both coaches now. First time I’ve seen this in this All Star game @ocvarsity @ocvarsityguy @SteveFryer
