I don’t think we’ve been in it long enough to truly understand the irreversible damage social media has done to our psyche but the studies gon be crazy in like 20-30 years.
if you’re talented, the only thing standing between you & greatness is consistency. now is the time to make being consistent one of your secondary talents. the bar is in hell, use that to your advantage.
I read an article that was basically a how to make your music more playlist-friendly & it included things like “start with the hook” “no intros/outros” etc. and idk.. I just don’t think artists should be sculpting their music around algorithms + playlist curators.
some personal news~
happy to announce i’ve been promoted to content marketing MANAGER

super grateful to be working with & learning from the best team in the game. it’s up!!🍾
8 months ago I taught myself how to use photoshop & I could only make gradients & background art 😂
fast forward to today, i’m a whole creative director for my own brand & my designs are garnering attention from huge companies. proud is an understatement 🥹
art direction is soooo important when it comes to rollout & how your music is received.
if the cover art, photoshoots, visuals, etc. don’t relate to the sound or help further convey the story you’re trying to tell… it’s time to go back to the drawing board. literally lol
“the industry” be scared to bet on artists they actually believe in so they overly depend on *data* to tell them who is gonna pop. it’s boring 🥱
i’m much more interested in hearing who YOU believe in. put us on to some art that speaks to you!!!
The “less is more” mentality has negatively impacted music. Bring back doing the absolute MOST on records.
I want all the riffs, runs, harmonies, bridges, choreographed music videos, all of dat.

I am excited to finally announce as of today I am no longer *just a contractor*
I’m officially a full-time employee at

resist the urge to always start from scratch. you have tons of unfinished ideas you once spent all night working on & gave up bc you were stuck/blocked. revisit them! i guarantee you’ll find gold.
for every piece of advice you get from an industry professional, there’s gonna be another industry professional telling you to do the exact opposite lol.
so, do you.
brent saying he rarely listens to r&b and mostly listens to rap is so interesting to me. i wonder how many other artists don’t listen to music in the genre they make?
part of the reason we don’t have many “superstars” is bc y’all don’t give anybody the time + grace it takes to get there.
artists start getting too confident, too popular, being seen in too many places & y’all get uncomfortable. start looking for any reason to humble them.
I feel like artists aren’t putting the care + intention into their clean versions as they once did. niggas used to damn near make a whole new song just to ensure it could be enjoyed everywhere.
black music is in a phenomenal place rn, idc what yall saying! there’s so many beautiful + inspired sounds coming out in r&b, afrosounds, hip-hop, dancehall, gospel, jazz, even country now like wtf 😮💨
working on something for
@sweetestRNB
& i’m looking to connect with curators who are super tapped into the R&B scenes in any of these areas:
📍nyc
📍miami
📍philly
📍htx
📍nigeria
📍los angeles
📍south africa
📍london
📍chicago
📍nola
if that’s u or someone u know, hit me 🍯
if you were given a million dollars rn, would you still be pursuing music? artists doing it for the love gonna say of course, opportunists gonna say “for what?”
just received a perfect playlist pitch from an artist i’ve never heard of/talked to. what made it perfect?
- wished me well
- introduced himself with name, hometown, and music genre in first paragraph.
- acknowledged what i’m doing with the sweets.
- sent me an

the rappers not inspired by the current state of rap so they’re listening to r&b. the singers listening to trap & drill for inspiration. i’m intrigued by all of this lol
artists are often told “you don’t need a manager until you have something to manage” okay.. so who DO you need in those beginning stages?
@djboothEIC
: “people who believe in you.” 💎
I admire all songwriters & their ability to adapt to who they’re writing for but i’m obsessed with the ones who have pens so distinctive you KNOW it’s them when you hear it.
Tyler The Creator says artists need to stop going on Sneaker Shopping & Hot Ones and talk about the music during his interview with Nardwuar 👀 thoughts ?
my man is a whole singer-songwriter & engineer. you don’t live with someone for 5+ years with a home studio & not learn a thing or two. i’m not a spectator. i get very active in this shit.
every time I go to a independent artist’s show, the crowd pisses me off. y’all too cool to wave ya hands in the air? turn ya phone flashlight on?? clap when the artist is done a song??? stay ya ass home
there’s so much good R&B out today bro 😮💨
partynextdoor, normani, elmiene, felix ames, dee gatti, full crate x shaé universe, tank, honey bxby, durand bernarr, HILLARI, tems, yung bleu, flwr chyld, the amours, mabel… like OMG!!!

some ppl desire to get into the industry to make change/bring something new to the table while others wanna get in just to be an industry nigga & maintain the status quo.
artists who share the content you make about their music because they understand it’s essentially free promo & there’s literally no reason to not share 😍😍😍😍😍
artists, sometimes you gotta just finish the song & lock it up. how many times have you began hating a song you once loved simply because you heard it too much??? stop over listening.
I miss when Black music & Black cinema used to go hand and hand. a lot of the oldies my generation loves so much were in all of our favorite movies growing up.
