The only way I can see the

investing properly in culture & events is for artists, writers, performers & directors to pile pressure on politicians publicly. Arts funding is a criminally low priority for the government & local authorities, & has been reduced to a lottery.

I realise this is drifting into the realms of fantasy but imagine an alternative reality in where adequate public transport is available after major cultural & sporting events in Scotland. How difficult can it be? We seem to be stuck in the dark ages.

Maybe I’ve been living under a rock but I can’t really recall a coffee shop on the ground floor of Princes Street before. Open till 9pm too. It would be great to see a real mix of uses emerge over the next few years, but this seems so much better than some of the grim offerings.
If it was up to me, every village, main street or high street would have a library of some kind. It can’t be that difficult. Other parts of Scotland should be taking a very close look at the projects coming to fruition in Paisley at the moment.
The new Paisley Central Library, wow. Was genuinely emotional to see what can be created when there is will and investment. A beautiful library at the heart of the High Street that will inspire generations to come. Inspiring, well done to the team there and

Quite telling that this guy doesn’t seem to know Labour is actually meant to be in charge of the council - although there’s very little evidence of that, to be fair. A combination of glaring inexperience & political naivety has left Edinburgh looking like a midden.
Got to admit I'm completely baffled by this. The Scottish Government's own arts quango has just told Holyrood's culture committee that £74m of the UK's Government's £97m in emergency arts funding for Scotland, announced on July 5, is not allocated yet.
Asked about the possibility of further support for the arts sector,

resources are finite and she urges the UK government to extend the furlough scheme.

This is maybe the best one yet. Can anyone suggest a reason why there might be a shortage of tradesmen in some rural parts of Scotland? Something to do with the unregulated conversion of housing into holiday homes perhaps?
"STL owners are unable to comply with the SNP's new licensing scheme due to a shortage of tradesmen in rural parts of Scotland. Only around one in five of Scotland's 32,000 operators have applied for a licence ahead of the October 1 deadline."
I realise there are mixed views on this, but I think Edinburgh should fight tooth & nail to ensure this remains a home for cinema. Historic picture houses have been revived & rejuvenated across Scotland in modern times. It would be a tragedy if Edinburgh cannot do the same.
