BREAKING NEWS: Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer supports ban on guns in the state Capitol after protesters carrying assault rifles stormed the building to decry stay-at-home order. The Michigan Capitol Commission is exploring a ban on weapons in the building.
I think everyone in Baltimore woke up shocked and worried today. Then we logged on here to say that like we once did, and then a bunch of assholes got in to sell conspiracy, xenophobia and anti-blackness.
It feels somewhat like 2015 but worse maybe because of 2024
Many in Maryland wants to legalize marijuana for votes and for revenue so that they can fund their other budget priorities.
If we legalize, tax and regulate the income should go to those communities and people most directly affected by the war on drugs.
Since you sent out this tweet 4 of your officers have been on the criminal end of felony charges, pleas, or sentences.
It just makes this tweet seem like the worst self owning projection possible.
To our officers at the Harbor tonight:
Protect each other and don't fall into the trap that they are only kids. Some are criminals! Keep the current policies and Consent Decree in mind. If ordered to arrest put the name of the on-scene Commander in all reporting.
Mike Mancuso
Talk about a deceptive headline. The headline says 300-500 *involved in fight.* The article says 300-500 teens were *at the harbor* when a fight broke out.
This is the definition of collective responsibility. They assume all the teens at the harbor were involved in the fight.
The People:Pay reparations. Give Back the Land. End the wars. Close the bases. Give us health care.
The government: How about Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill.
Brandon is right. The people in the water and the people trying to rescue them are the immediate concern. The people in communities around the bridge are the next.
No comment that anybody offers about rebuilding the bridge is at all informed at this point anyway.

The language of natural disaster applied to young black people taking advantage of a public entertainment space is particularly galling. In this case it is a word choice that indicates the young black people don’t belong there.
The question I have about this article is why didn’t the
@baltimoresun
or the
@washingtonpost
write about this issue ?
There have been murmurs, independent reporting, and citizen journalism around this.
This belonged on the news page of a big paper in 2018, during election
A real estate developer wins executive office. He then maintains an active interest in his business, putting his family in charge, and carries out policies to boost his profits. Sounds like Donald Trump, right? Turns out, it's Larry Hogan.
We live in a state where Democrats have a veto proof majority in both houses and it is easier to increase mandatory minimums than it is to increase the minimum wage.
I am running for state delegate to put human rights over corporate profits
Larry Hogan’s decision to mail everyone an application for an absentee ballot, instead of mailing everyone a ballot, adds an extra step that complicates voting. We should not complicate voting.
If we actually had a
-Medicare for all
-universal basic income
-paid family leave
-housing guarantee
It would be so much easier to get through the pandemic.
But our system is designed to sacrifice the vulnerable and to allow the healthy to get sick.
People are angry because for years they have been expressing fear, concern and hopelessness about the corruption and violence of the police department. When I was on multiple campaign trails in 2016 I heard many people express things this Trial is confirming.
This is our elected states attorney shitposting GIFs in response to reports about her office preventing public defenders from seeing internal affairs records of dirty cops.
Dems in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania engaged in bad faith legal efforts to kick greens off the ballot because they believe that voter suppression is reasonable when they think it helps them win.
When their bad faith legal work failed they turned to the media for disinformation.
Every craven political opportunist is going to try to co-opt the students movement against the corrupt gun runners and their bought and paid politicians.
I’m not. I’m going to watch, listen, and learn
There is no better example of neo -liberal austerity than an unregulated half a billion dollar police budget and a sanitation department that must chose between recycling and trash
I have been in Baltimore since 2005, during that time I have seen 3 mayors resign and 3 city council presidents take over.
O’Malley —> Dixon
Dixon —> Rawlings-Blake
Pugh —> Young
That is not healthy.
Many Baltimore neighborhood associations are ten to twenty person clubs given the authority to speak for thousands of people on development and zoning issues. It’s an absolutely absurd system and it only exists as it does because it serves the interests of the status quo.
The fact that the
@BaltimorePolice
can not stand the scrutiny of people listening to their scanners is a telling example of how weak and scared they are.
Is it me or is ACB position on Brown that she considers it super precedent because no one wants to over turn it but If people wanted to overturn it she would be open to it.
I’m going to bed thinking about this tonight. I hope all of my fellow candidates, party builders, organizers, advocates, activists, or political workers will take some time to reflect on these tragic words.
“This campaign is killing you," Jill Kamenetz warned her husband, not long before he died of cardiac arrest.
What strength it must have taken to deliver this eulogy. Heartbreaking story by
@ssdance
Let’s be clear Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden want a strong Republican Party because they know that if the Republican Party fractures it will take away the Democratic party’s ability to stop the
@GreenPartyUS
from advancing real economic, environmental and social justice.
I’ve been siting with so much pain this week, my mom is beginning cancer treatment a week from tomorrow, my step dad died on Monday, and my friend Kevin died today. My heart is heavy
The danger of the parkland moment is that it becomes cover for opportunists like Zirkin and Hogan to create additional penalties for gun possession.
Sentence enhancements, tough on crime laws, and mandatory minimums are all empowered by a renewed push for gun control.
I’m thinking about how
@marclamonthill
wrote a whole book about Israel and Palestine that concluded that the sentiment of young people and democrats was aggressively shifting to a pro Palestinian position, Biden and dems should read it to understand why they are cooked in 24
This year
@jillpcarter
has introduced senate Bill 276 to repeal the Hopkins Private police force. Let’s get this bill passed. Hopkins is not accountable to the people or communities of Baltimore, letting them have armed private police force is a bad idea.
David Simon and Justin Fenton decided to do the Baltimore Police, and Police in general, a solid -arguably so they could maintain access- in the way they portrayed Sean Suiter and his death.
Rogue unit robbing people-sure.
Rogue unit murdering a witness on the force-too far.
One of the worst things about COVID times is there is no downtime. There is no driving any where, no being anywhere, no time doing things friends .
It feels like I am constantly working or talking or communicating and it’s exhausting.
Stolen Goat Returned
On May 19, 2020, at about 9:52 p.m., Southern District was notified that the baby goat stolen earlier that morning from the 1300 block of Filbert Street was anonymously returned.
The owners are overjoyed and thankful that Ed is home safe and unharmed.
Baltimore City school spent all that time and money and people’s emotional and intellectual labor to make remote schooling get better.
Now they won’t even consider using it in an unprecedented spike of an unknown variant after a super spreader holiday.
The sign says no right on red. The person behind me honked. Then went around me on the left and then turned right.
Then I saw them at the next stop light.
I feel like I have seen this exact tweet from others this week.
I really don’t understand why Hopkins and BPD needed dozens and dozens of police to arrest 5 people.
It seemed to be an attempt to show the force, to intimidate future protestors.
Four years ago should have been the start of a political revolution in Baltimore that empowered the people and communities to dictate the shape of their own lives, but here we are with the most establishment mayor we could have on leave because of the most Baltimore scandal.
I have submitted my resume for the 45th district delegate seat that Cheryl Glenn vacated when the bribery and fraud charges against her were made public.
I am not a democrat, but I do not believe the seat belongs to the Democratic Party.
I want to share something I am
very excited about.
I have been appointed by
@ElectRyanDorsey
to serve on the Baltimore City Charter Review Commission.
I am honored to be chosen for this and excited for the opportunity.
I am eager to get to work!
This is a wild concept, put another way it is basically saying “other cities have homicide rates that are getting closer to Baltimore. What we can teach you about not addressing the problem”
When I ran for state delegate in 2018 Cheryl Glenn was one of my opponents.
At the time I pointed out that a medical cannabis scheme that provides licenses to a small handful of wealthy people was ripe for corruption.
I’m sorry to say that today that looks to be the case.
Larry Hogan is going to tell us that the only way republicans will agree to pay to rebuild the bridge is if he is elected to the US Senate and then he can talk to them
A young person squeegeeing today approached our car, we gave them a $10 bill. They were very excited. They told us about the Halloween costume they wanted to buy and explained that’s why they were squeegeeing. We wished them safety, luck and an awesome Halloween costume.
The students held the main admin building of a major university for 36 days. During that time the corrupt mayor Hopkins bribed for their police resigned, Yale police shot someone, and the Board of elections ruled against Marylanders trying to bring the issue to ballot.
A lot of Baltimore knows a lot of secrets about a lot of long time elected officials and a lot of Baltimore barely knows who their elected officials are. It may be time to introduce some of the new folks here to some shocking things.
In 2018 a certain high ranking East Baltimore Democrat described to me how their crumbling machine regards Greens.
He said “Our strategy is just to ignore you all until one of you beat us”
Let’s make 2020 the year we beat them. Vote for
@FrancaMullerPaz
!
The Democratic Party has taken the major movements of the last 50 years, stripped them of their critique of capitalism and repackaged them for the college educated suburbanites who are benefitting from current system.
It is so strange to watch a bunch of liberals say it’s wrong for people to say “if an elected official supports a policy I don’t like I might not vote for them” … how else are people supposed to exert political power?
JHU does not need its own private police force. The university has proven to be a bad and unaccountable community member and giving them a police force is the last thing they need. This year we have a chance to repeal that force in the general assembly.let’s get it done.
With no shutdowns and no checks a lot of people who have to go to work are going to catch COVID and be out of work and out of luck and out of childcare. It’s going to be an awful winter for many of the vaccinated too.
It’s interesting how some people assume that presumption lies with Keith Davis’s guilt because he has been tried 4 times. Presumption should always lie with innocence and to a larger degree when it’s the 4th trial on the same charges.
Robert Stokes was ELECTED to the 45th Legislative District Democratic Central Committee in 2018.
Today he was removed from that position because he couldn’t be bothered to attend meetings.
Come November (really September /October)let’s remove him from city council.

As the Baltimore City Mayoral race gets bigger and bigger it’s a great time to remind everyone that Ranked Choice Voting in party primaries makes a ton of sense.
Kevin Zeese was a friend and mentor in the difficult work of trying to build the Green Party here in Baltimore and in Maryland.
Kevin passed away last night. All of my love goes out to Margaret and his family and friends.
We will keep up the fight with love and power💚
Next week the state senate will hear a bill to put an early voting center at Frederick Douglass High School. I fully support this.
The area is accessible by transit, is a population hub, and would be a great early voting location.
Being the mayor of baltimore city strikes me as an incredibly difficult job, but I would hope we could find someone better at it than the current mayor, the former mayor, or Thiru
The Democratic Central Committee rejected my application for the vacant delegate seat because I’m not a Democrat. Maryland law makes vacant seats the property of the party,not the people.
It’s time to change that and require special elections. My op-Ed
