5/ Snowflake - process where network starts to recall prior state votes of each node. Each node has a counter. For every Slush query the counter tracks the state of each node. Once counter reaches high enough number it locks and will no longer flip states with slush queries.

a) X Chain is the default chain of the network. Primarily utilized for Asset creation, NFTs for example. The chain builds DAG concurrency of transactions not requiring sequencing with respect to each other. A transaction can be finalized while another is worked on.
