the future of climate communication is high agency, resilient, and pragmatic!!
@stolerlyn

not sure why caring about beauty is portrayed as shallow when it is SUCH a high signal of intelligence if you’re able to curate good aesthetic taste (in music, art, fashion, food, etcetc)
in addition to weightlifting, it has been very fun to pick a random functional goal every month to tunnel vision on.
keeping them all in once place🤠

you need to be source maxxing. escaping the ouroboros of content with old pdfs, esoteric html websites, and librarians that know a little too much. you need to be gathering intel from people hanging in parks.
Quietly made history today… more details soon ⚡️ massive milestone and success for the

i am a staunch admirer of people who can defend their beliefs 3-4 layers of questioning down. especially when it’s the socially safe option that doesn’t usually prompts more discussion. a crisp high five to you
@toth_charles
+1 to that. also increased air pollution, water overconsumption, and socioeconomic disparities - all externalities that already exist, but are amplified by sprawl
the highest honor is probably some medal but the second highest is when a friend asks you to review their work before they put it into the world. like aw??? this piece of your soul in the form of a google doc??
one of my fave things i've done with friends is offering to be a Student as a Service™️
if they are self-studying something i will be the resident novice! we meet periodically and they distill everything they learned that week. forced deliverables + tutelage. a win-win
digitally native web3/crypto applications are great but for initiatives emulating irl human experiences, i would personally much rather see efforts redirected to stewarding the world we already live in. eg. funding physical public goods, coordination problems for climate
shoutout to dumplings for helping an entire generation of first gen asians feel like they're still actually in touch with their culture this lunar new year

i know the zeitgeist has moved past "everyone should code"-isms but it's cool to have to consistently intuit the form of something as natural as information
cs ideas are contagious because it is a subject of analogy. once you see a tree, a heap, etc you see it everywhere.
ok TIL by experimentation that if you scan an LCD screen, the image becomes greyscale!
> liquid crystals act as "shutters" for the pixels to display RGB
> device backlight illuminates it to display colors
> printer's scanner is brighter than the device backlight
> ∴ no color!
over the last few months, we've been curating our favourite projects from weekly socratica sessions in waterloo!

we are one engineering disney princess away from solving the electrician shortage. she will make all her furniture and the kingdom's control systems will synchronize to the sun. her sidekick will be a label maker.
There’s a lot of interesting work currently being done in the world of infrastructure — batteries, clean energy, new drug breakthroughs, supersonic flight.
Occurs to me that it would be great to have a Margaret Bourke-White-like figure capturing it all. Anyone doing this?
one of my fave graphs ever is this hour by hour graph of GPS accuracy error before/after the US gov turned off selective availability. civil/commercial nav systems could be FAR far worse than the quality we enjoy today
a jacky-ism is that he will present impossible problems with the same demeanor as simple ones and sit there for 10 minutes as you try to figure out set subtraction in CRDTs before telling u that "nobody has done it yet". rude. but hilarious.
hacker culture is so back

@DavidSHolz
most definitely. i think giving people another axis to match on is the goal vs displacing natural social draws
to max on excuses to talk to new people, we also gave little assignments on nametags! eg
- find someone that speaks 4 languages
- guess their sibling order

it is a truth universally acknowledged that a company in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a gen-z intern to take free rein of their social media accounts
