The magnetic responsive material is such a tiny fraction. Only a few shards per tube. Not what it is, it looks quite shiny and metallic. The rest of the material is not the homogenous brick I was expecting to see. A bit confused about what I have.

We need to practice one of the critical steps, vacuum sealed quartz tubes. I've done tons of glass working, but never in quartz. It took a bit of tuning, but we achieved a fairly nice tube end after a few tries. This will be tight well below 1e-5torr.

After they're cooled off, WE'LL SEE IF THE ROCKS FLOAT! We'll test the bulk ingots, then gradually reduce them in size, using a magnet to sort out any grains that exhibit any response. It seems like all the ones online were <1mm.

This was a great test run of the quartz vacuum sealing rig. We were at 3e-3torr when we sealed off. It went smoothly enough for a first effort. I gave it 5min at vacuum to flash off any moisture in the powder.
