The Tory's Section 35 Order passes 318 to 71.
Where was the UK Labour Party?
Cowering away at the slightest call to defend trans folk, or a devolved government's right to legislate in making their lives a bit better.
Absolute sham of a "progressive" party.
WE DID IT!!
I'm *so* honoured to be elected as the next Green Cllr for the Dennistoun Ward. ๐
Now the hard work on transport, housing, & community justice โ
Massive turnout at Buchanan Steps against the Tory targeting of basic trans rights through Section 35 & Holyroodโs right to legislate for them

Naming Labour MPs who did not vote for a ceasefire is not "shameful", its accountability.
What has flamed targeting of abuse against me & my Green colleagues, has been your Labour & Tory colleagues calling us "extremists" at every turn. Stop it.
Great to see Lidl opening up a Deposit Return Scheme across Glasgow for plastic & aluminium drink containers - making use of the infrastructure for the national DRS here & now ๐
So many people suffering untold hardship, but not celebrating mega-rich royalty is the problem?
We've an un-elected leader whose crown is driven to Parliament, while we've community groups struggling to get food donations delivered to people in need.
Upside down priorities.
For 70 years, Her Majesty has been a towering figure of hope for our country.
The fact Glasgow City Council has NO events for her platinum jubilee is shameful.
However, like many Glaswegians, I'll be celebrating this historic milestone.

I wonder what the bar is for

to believe someone's stepped over the line ๐
But of course, he's just expressing "legitimate concerns".
Also on the Council's lack of Jubilee events, we should think about how we celebrate Glasgow's communities & *their* history more.
The Kenmure Street Festival of Resistance 2 weeks ago is a great example of how we can commemorate strength & unity of our City ๐
When Mairi Black won her seat, I was in 6th year, & there was genuine excitement from so many young folk seeing a 20 year-old, working class lesbian become an MP.
Is a sad indictment that Westminster continues to be an unwelcome place to such voices: all the best, Mhairi ๐
So Scottish Labour are asking people to vote for Labour for a candidate who will vote against Labour policies like keeping the Bedroom Tax & 2 Child Policy.

We need to urgently shake up the Night Buses so it serves Glasgow better. They need to:
- better reflect day routes so folk are familiar with them โ๏ธ
- get night time venues to be promoting it actively ๐
- get Transport Scotland to allow NEC cards to be used on it ๐

First Bus has announced it's withdrawing night bus services in Glasgow from July 31st, after just over a year of operation.
The firm says services have been running at a significant loss, regularly operating with as few as 14 passengers per hour.
The strength of solidarity at tonightโs vigil for Brianna Ghey in Glasgow was palpable - her murder shows now more than ever we need to stand with our trans siblings together across all our communities ๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ

Glasgow's gearing up for King's coronation.

He's also hit out at Celtic fans' anti-monarchy chants that made global headlines, he says they make Glasgow look bad.
Labour Council Manifesto - written by another Glasgow Labour MSP - supported the LEZ.
Labour Cllrs supported it too at Committee, rightly agreeing with us on more grant support for private hires.
Labour can't have it both ways - do mean what they say, or mean what they tweet?
Mikeโs right. The SNP Green council and government are damaging working class people with the LEZ policy.
People lucky enough to have newer cars will be fine.

An inconvenient truth is, in a Scottish context, Labour need to prioritise what message they want to send: anti-Tory, or anti-SNP. They chose the latter in 2017, which led to Tories as a more viable option.
It is an inconvenient truth for some Scots that Theresa May is only in government right now because of Tory gains made in Scotland. Scottish voters hold the key to a Labour government, and that is why we will continue to campaign for our positive vision of a future

The rank hypocrisy of Scottish Labour, who will nod along with Viceroy Jack's bully attitude to Devolution, while their own party's Welsh Gov could face the same betrayal by Westminster in 2025.

Was interviewing Patrick Harvie at the Scottish Green's Rutherglen and Hamilton West launch this afternoon when we were interrupted by this.
An unpleasant situation handled in a dignified manner by the Scot Green co-leader:
We do love the SNP using examples like the Greens' budget win, & Monica Lennon's Period Poverty bill, to say *they* are delivering for Scotland, rather than it being a pluralistic, minority Parliament that's helping to deliver change ๐
This reactive & impulsive response by Humza Yousaf is exactly what was making me wary of continuing the Bute House Agreement recently.
This shows great weakness, not leadership, in how feart he is of a healthy party democracy like in the Greens.

Ultimately Scottish Green members decide if MSPs are in Government.
With the Council Tax Freeze, Climate Targets scrapped, & MSPs who run rampant with Transphobia, the SNP have shown alot of contempt in the past year.
I think its time for members to have a say on the BHA again.
I don't know how it faces an internal "revolt" by a declaration signed by 10 members, half of which are men, who didn't even speak to the Party's Women's Network.

Just had a sneak peak, & delighted to see in the SNP/SGP deal the devolution of Dr Who production to BBC Scotland agreed, with Patrick Harvie designated new show-runner, in place of a ministerial position.
I know the Edinburgh / Glasgow rivalry runs deep, but Glasgow City Council blocking City of Edinburgh Councilโs website on their Council laptops is another level ๐
I repeat: George Redmond shouldn't have been selected as a Councillor Candidate, let alone run Glasgow.
Going back to the dark dodgy days of the Council is *not* what Glaswegians want in the slightest.
The Council Leader wrote today that to fill the budget gap, we'd need to raise Council Tax by ~ 25%.
Instead of us pushing that regressive tax up ridiculous amounts, Holyrood MSPs should vote to increase income tax more tomorrow to help properly fund councils & our shared goals.
He shouldn't be sitting as an MP full stop, let alone be allowed back into a political party.
A by-election won't save the SNP any face for what they've done today, but it's still the right thing to do now.

Dire reason to block anyone - especially since their previous MP was 28 when elected.
I mind this guy coming to Springburn to talk about the Council elections & not having a clue how to deal with what actual people felt rather than his own narrative.
If any "scene" needs broken up, it's Westminster think tanks. They poison politics with dark money & influence.

Regardless of how you feel on a VONC, Rachel Reeves is choosing party over country & respect of devolution.
It has skud all to do with her - it shows how partisan she will be in UK Government, & that she will only treat devolution fairly if you vote Labour into Holyrood.
