My dad said all this to me almost verbatim awhile back. You can identify with this very obvious, non-subtle, explicitly hateful, mustache twirling bigot if you want, but don't be surprised when your kids stop calling.
This is not an isolated incident. Trans people who've had their names and gender markers legally changed on all of their documentation for years are suddenly being refused passports or being told that their current passports are invalid. This keeps happening. Please listen to us.
Wow. The U.S. passport office just called and told me that due to an “error,” the government has *retroactively invalidated* the change of gender marker it authorized on my passport last year. They won’t renew my passport w/ correct name & gender until i submit a new doctors note
They've taken away our school and workplace protections, made it legal to refuse us service at hospitals or grocery stores. They're working to take away our rights to serve in the military, to adopt, to buy a home, even to use the bathroom. And now they won't let us leave.

COMIC PUBLISHERS! STOP PUTTING YOUR TITLES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE COVER! Don't put them on the bottom or the side either! As a retailer, I don't order books I can't display. Magazine racks cover AT LEAST half of the cover. If your title isn't at the top, your book is unsellable.
When I say "help us," here is what I mean:
Vote.
Raise and listen to trans voices.
Vote.
Give money to
#transcrowdfund
efforts.
VOTE.
Make sure the trans people in your life have food, housing, employment, and transportation.
FUCKING VOTE.
Help is tangible. Do what you can.

It's going to keep getting worse. It's not going to magically get better just because you all silently disapproved. Listen to us! Stand up for us! Fucking help us! I don't want to die here, this soil doesn't deserve my bones.
Today was the one year anniversary of me starting hormones. I celebrated by eating tacos in bed and watching Sailor Moon with my best friend. Thanks to everyone who's been a part of my life this past year. The greatest feeling and the wildest thrill is to see and to know myself.
People will storm a building for putting their toys in the wrong box but not to stop the ongoing murder of children in concentration camps. Yeah, I'm sure Peter Parker would be really touched by this piss baby tantrum factory.

@JustinDutton18
It's such a bummer that you're choosing to promote your work this way. This is the first time I've seen anything about you or your book and it's in the context of you insulting something that myself and many others worked really hard to create, out of nothing but love for comics.
@Jody_Houser
@neilhimself
Wait, but Jody are you implying that this person doesn't know how the publishing industry works? This person correcting Neil about how he got a job over thirty years ago? This person who doesn't believe women are ever hired on their own merits? How can you say such a thing?
This is blowing up way more than I ever expected and I just want to add a couple things. One, I'm sorry the thread is formatted in a weird roundabout way, I wanted to make sure the whole thread posted to my facebook so certain family members would see it.
Christopher Columbus raped children, fed babies to dogs, and ushered in an era of slavery that DEFINES the western hemisphere. The tamest thing he's known for is cutting the tongues from his own men. Anyone criticizing that statue's removal should be tossed in the same damn lake.
For 14 years, Sabrina "Sabs" Cooper has worked at Pegasus Books, helping customers find the perfect comic, game or book at the downtown Bend shop. Recently, a new comic written by Cooper, 31, hit the store's colorful shelves.
@Audreyisabitch1
It's good but has been so influential it now feels derivative, in that way where you've probably seen it all done somewhere else by now. So watch it but go in with reasonable expectations, I think.
Because really, the only people I thought would see it would be family, and that maybe, but probably not, this time they would actually take me seriously when I expressed how terrifying it is to be a trans American right now. And the other thing I want to add is...
If I get misgendered at work I just freeze up, I almost never actually correct anyone. These people aren't usually hateful, they're just oblivious and I don't have the energy for it. I also almost never have anyone to correct them on my behalf, but I feel a lot safer when I do.
Yes she is responsible for an important victory in getting trans kids access to the appropriate bathrooms at school and yes she is going to be playing the first openly trans superhero on television, but it's the Steven Universe tweets that really make

an icon. ⭐

Raising trans voices can also mean a lot of things. Retweets and likes, sure. Also, when sharing an article about transgender issues, make sure it's actually written by a trans person, otherwise it is likely sensational nonsense that can hurt us.
Do you know if homeless shelters in your area have trans-inclusive policies? Find out! Also ask yourself if there are any safe places for queer people in your community, particularly trans youth. If not, can you organize something?
Speaking up about our rights and safety to your senators and other representatives is excellent. Raising our voices might also mean going to a protest. It will not always be clean and easy, it will sometimes be tough and messy. Our lives are tough and messy.
@AnneComics
Have you ever watched Monsters, Maniacs, and Moore? It's a tv documentary from around the time he was writing Swamp Thing, and it's just brimming with joy and optimism and unabashed love for the medium. It's wonderful. Whole things on youtube, only like 45 minutes long.
Get involved at home, at school, in the workplace, or on the street when you witness transphobia, especially when it targets a person who is almost certainly too scared or exhausted to defend themselves.
Got the perfect socks on for my third viewing of Knives Out today! Excited to check out

I know because I woke myself up at 4:30 in the morning without an alarm so I could meditate under the Super Blue Blood Moon and only women can do that, it says so right in the Player's Handbook.
@hologramvin
@mspowahs
Ha, now I'm just giggling thinking about someone shouting, "ladies and gentlemen stop what you are doing" and one person just being like, "okay, guess I'll just go about my business then."
In just under an hour, we'll be going live for our 4th Showcase!
Awesome creator interviews, fun giveaways, a cool live drawing, and the announcement of the 2021 Talent Search winners!
We'll see you soon!
@Tranarchic
It's deliberate. The moment that marginalized people have a word to help describe their experience, to communicate and coordinate with their peers, the word is publicly twisted and squeezed until every last drop of meaning is wrung from it. The very same thing they did to "woke."
@OhHeyDJ
Every time I've had a new hire at the bookstore one of the first things I always say is: I do not believe "if you have time to lean you have time to clean." I believe that happy, healthy employees who actually like coming to work will keep the store clean and running smooth.
I’ve been announced as a winner in Mad Cave’s 2021 Talent Search! I’m super excited and grateful for the opportunity. Looking forward to making cool stuff with good people. Also I wrote my submission in the last twelve hours of the contest so never count yourself out of anything.
Gotta say, I love that I sent them this picture and they just ran it no questions asked. We like to be a little goofy around here. Shoutout to
@exjasperate

I can finally say that this is what I've been working on for
@MadCaveStudios
! I got to write my first full length issue, and
@FedeBertoniArt
illustrated the absolute hell out of it. Such a privilege to work in
@DavidTHazan
and
@ShaneCvolK
's world, I can't wait for you to read it!
@oheysteenz
This is honestly such a perfect encapsulation of what white people really mean when they say, "I don't see color," which is, "you will never compel me to admit that race related issues exist or that I have ever contributed to them consciously or otherwise."
Paul Rudd says he had a “horrible” and “restrictive” diet for playing Ant-Man.
“My reward was sparkling water. That’s how horrible that diet was. I was like, ‘Alright, I can have some sparkling water now, I’ve earned it.’”

My first article for Syfy in four years! It feels sort of frivolous with everything happening but it's a subject I care about. Anyway, the caliber of work being done under the FANGRRLS label is honestly staggering and I'm really proud and excited to get to be a part of that. 💖🏳️🌈
I hope y'all like your costumes so specific that it's not even worth explaining them so you give up and just start telling people you're the actual crow from the movie The Crow! I'm
@misspenart
's Crow with a whole entire Cheeto!
Oh did you think we were done? I've still got one more Tales From Nottingham announcement to make and it's a doozy. As of today, we have a super limited Pegasus Books exclusive variant for TFN

This is literally what it means to take the lord's name in vain. A more literal translation of the original Hebrew would be, "to do evil in god's name," or even more literally, "to hold up god as you do nothing he asks."
Hello
#VisibleWomen
, I am a woman and I am not invisible! My name is Sabs Cooper, I've written for Syfy and Geeks OUT, co-created Finger Guns, and was featured in Dead Beats. My upcoming work includes Tales of Nottingham
#3
and an unannounced anthology from A Wave Blue World.
Yeah, very, very much this. "Women-identified" does not make me feel welcome, included, accepted, or safe. At best it makes me feel like a tolerated novelty.
"Women and women-identified" in particular as a phrase can go die. You can make it clear you're welcoming trans women without this demeaning distinction.
@CartaMonir
suggested "women, no TERFS" for event invites, calls for submissions, etcetera.
@ERossUra
As far back as 900 BC, Scythian trans women would medically transition using anti-androgens found in licorice root and estrogen harvested from horse urine.
If you think it’s wrong to protest murder but right to murder protesters you’re a bad person. This is not a controversial take. It’s not an extreme stance. It’s a surface level understanding of empathy and justice.
This is one of
@MagsVisaggs
' absolute best pieces of writing so far. Plus really tremendous lettering by
@ZakkSaam
, and fantastic colors by
@Eru_Rouraito
as well. And
@rfarrowster
's range as an artist is very much on display. Just a wonderfully well produced comic on all fronts.
Found this page in
@aidosaur
and
@ananthhirsh
's autobio book, Our Cats Are More Famous Than Us, and I love that they apparently based Lucky Penny on a random woman they saw reading smut on the bus.
Hi! My name is Sabs, short for Sabrina. I enjoy writing horror, romance, sci-fi, and slice-of-life comics, as well as poetry and non-fiction. I'm also available for script consultation and sensitivity reading. Find me at RCCC this year and I'll give you a zine!
#VisibleWomen
I know it's a cliché for trans women to see their pre-transition selves in Scott, but this panel of him sleeping like a dog at the foot of the bed with two women he has extremely complicated relationships with is so accurate I could honestly cry.
Emily Gwen (they/them), creator of the modern lesbian flag is experiencing homelessness. One collaboration with a major retailer could change their life but the corporations making money off this design just take and take giving nothing back. So donate and buy from them directly:
Everyone wish a happy six-one-six to

! One year ago he signed with Marvel so he could write some dope ass shit for you to read. What you might not know is that Donny isn't just a phenomenal writer, he's also an indefatigable sweetheart and a genuinely great human being.
@MagsVisaggs
I think maybe I pictured like a hip skater lesbian with light goth vibes, but so far I've been alternating between soft cowgirl witch and goddess of snakes.
Don't know who needs to hear this but if you're thinking about doing a bunch of mushrooms and reading Tradd Moore's Doctor Strange miniseries absolutely do it.
So thankful for

@79SemiFinalist
Working in comics retail I cannot tell you the number of people who want Marvel Swimsuit Edition to come back. With today's artists? Are you kidding? You put Babs Tarr, Jen Bartel, Kevin Wada, Kris Anka etc on that, it'd absolutely kill.
