This morning, I heard a story on NPR about how aging baby boomers can’t find appropriate homes when they’re looking to downsize because of high prices, limited inventory, etc. It made me wonder: Who IS the housing market working for???

Scariest day ever. We were at Nats Park enjoying the game, and we hear BIG shots. Crowds of people start running. We had no idea if we were in an active shooter situation. Apparently shooting was outside, not inside. We are safe now but those moments when we didn’t know…my God.

People aren’t comparing PPP & student loan forgiveness because they’re 100% analogous. It’s because in both, taxpayers bear the cost of providing an economic support to some, not all. The two programs do share that feature, even if you argue PPP was more worthwhile/necessary.

This should go without saying, but PPP loans aren't the same as college debt. We faced a natural disaster (pandemic) compounded by government shut-down orders that blocked people from working. PPP is better viewed as a form of disaster relief.

Just go to a state school. The premium you're paying for elite private colleges vs. the better public schools is for social clout and not the quality of the education. And that's worth a lot less now that people have figured out that elite higher ed is cringe.

Shout out to @NPRCodeSwitch , where I first learned of research from @DrShaunHarper on disparities in the graduation rates of black student-athletes. Helped illuminate why the idea of "they get scholarships, so they shouldn't get compensated" doesn't necessarily make sense.

Not an exhaustive list, but @drlisadcook , @TrevonDLogan , @DaniaFrancis , @RhondaVSharpe and @itsafronomics are some of the black voices in economics whose words I’ve been paying particular attention to these past few days. You should too.

Was just looking back through Paycheck Protection Program rules and came across one from last June titled "Interim Final Rule on Revisions to the Third and Sixth Interim Final Rules"...Covering this program has been quite the journey.

I have a complaint! Clothes made for little boys are very boring! Girls get endless designs, prints and colors. Boys get dinosaurs and excavators in navy blue and gray. Why?!
