continues: “It is up to the people in the country to decide what they want to do and for them being able to decide, there should be no war. As I’ve said, this war made decisions for many Ukrainians. People say there is always a choice. But most Ukrainians don’t see a choice now.”

In their view, Putin’s larger objective is to reestablish “Russian political & cultural dominance over a nation that Putin sees as one with Russia, and then follow up by undoing the European rules-based order & security architecture established in the aftermath of World War II.”

within which East Europeans with lived experiences with RU imperialism have been framed as emotional, biased & Russophobic while Western ‘experts’ have positioned themselves as rational, impartial & civilized also because they promote ‘peace’ (never mind violent Western history)

The disaster of the @amnesty report on Russia-occupied Ukraine is unravelling into new lows, raising further concerns over incompetent, unethical, colonial and harmful research methods & practices and a striking lack of consideration of core concerns of research ethics 🧵

Not sure how I (and others) missed this text when it came out in 2022 but wow was I today years old when I found out that Ukrainians are the largest migrant population in Gaza. Reportedly, most are Ukrainian women who met their Palestinian partners when they studied in Ukraine…

It is alarming that peer-review still enables so epistemically unjust and imperialist as well as socially and environmentally irresponsible and harmful research, such as one that perpetuates genocide and ecocide denial. Very concerning that @IAJournal_CH published the text.

Another nice day in English-speaking academia: professors of ethics justifying ***Russian settler colonialism*** because money spent on military assistance to Ukraine's self-defence could be spent on climate change instead

What we see in all the texts & interviews is a refusal of Western-centric, dated & oppressive discourses, binaries, categories & power dynamic, and new visions for social & global justice & solidarity emerging in CEE & diasporic anti-imperialist, critical race & feminist debates

..would you describe the power dynamic in how you’re relating to feminist thinkers from a society that is being subjected to war crimes & crimes against humanity? In particular, as someone who is not living under the dire reality of a Russian military invasion? You need to ask..

New series in which Czech investigative journalist Saša Uhlová goes undercover and works in various western industries that systemically exploit ‘cheap’ migrant labour. First episode describes the exhausting conditions at a German veggie farm, with long working hours per € 6,20

To me, Butler’s insistence on holding onto the unrealistic in response to imperial violence reads as unstructural, irresponsible & harmful. No matter how well intended, the focus on utopia conceals the material impact of RU violence, the real and imminent threat to UA lives..

Every time a German politician frames Ukrainian self-defense against genocide by russia as an escalation, I return to this frank and necessary thread that explores the history of German imperialism against Ukraine and its present implications. This cycle happens remarkably often.

This here is Kyiv, 1941. The city where my grandmother and many relatives lived. Some escaped, some haven't. If you are German, you of course know that Germans did it. Let's be more specific. Chances are, someone in your immediate or extended family been there and done that /2

Creepiest ride with a russian taxi driver in Tbilisi: he asks how come I don’t speak russian when I’m from Prague. I tell him it’s because we were de-occupied. He tells me that if all women in CZ are as beautiful as me, he’s going there. I want to vomit & pretend to call a friend

A key sincere question. I can offer some follow-up questions for scholars who speak on Ukraine while not having done the reading: why haven’t you? What is it that makes one as a scholar think and act like one doesn’t need to do a literature review of scholarship from Ukraine?

Sincere question for @CornelWest : have you done the reading on Ukraine? You’re a scholar. Have you even conducted a basic literature review on the subject? If not, then why are you so comfortable offering your opinion on the matter on national tv?

This is spot on: a genuine peace movement challenges power and rejects oppression. It does not shift responsibility from invading empires and it certainly does not speak over the occupied and lobby to deny them the assistance required for their self-defence, indeed amid genocide.

A real peace movement attacks POWER. Russia is the power that is causing this war, yet they have no serious critiques of Putin or his many henchmen who are committing war crimes around Ukraine. They work with the oppressed. I've yet to see @codepink here in Ukraine. 👀
