#TamilNadu often seen as a flat/plain state. But TN has the highest land area above 1000m and 2000m height in south India also in "Non-Himalayan" India. TN has 5312sqkm area above 1000m height, 875sqkm land area above 2000m. At the same time, 85% the state lies below 500m. 1/7

80 years ago, Tamil language had to fight for its place in Tamil land. In 1930's Music Academy said, Tamil worth only for Tukkadas in Carnatic music, & even banned people singing in Tamil. It led to Annamalai Chettiar starting Tamil Isai Sangam, MS Amma came & sang in Tamil 1/3

Masinagudi-Kalhatty(Ooty) road is the most dangerous ghat road in South India, 36 hairpin road climbs ~3000 to 7300ft. Vehicle breakpad & engine get heat up. EV sees MCU heating, for every 1km, range reduce by 4-5km. Fully charged EV cant use regenerative braking going down 1/3

In the temple research, I had not seen anything like Thirunangur (10km from Poomphuhar) in Mayiladuthurai dt, this small village has 7 divya desam temple, 4 on its periphery (11 overall). Some Shiva temples too. The whole village is just temples.

Madurai Airport has been waiting for permission to start night flights for last 10+ yrs. Every time Civil Aviation says, donot have enough security personnel and no resources to hire. Even smaller airports got international tag but Madurai is still a customs airport, req declined

Arkavathi river, a tributary of Cauvery in #Karnataka , flowing above its highest flow level. Arkavathi drains 4253sqkm area. It originate in Nandi hills, flows for ~190km to join #Cauvery at Mekedatu near KA-TN Border. It was a primary drinking water source for old #Bangalore 1/6

Guna cave, Kodaikanal is one of the most dangerous caves in #TamilNadu . Three tall rocks form this cave. It is more like a small deep hole(4ft*4ft) with a depth >300ft, with no oxygen, lights too will fail. The dead bodies of >6 people who fell inside are still not recovered 1/3

Andhra financial situation is looking extremely grim. FY 2023-24 budget projected a revenue deficit of 22,317Cr for whole year but just in 3 months(Apr-June) deficit ballooned to 26,606Cr, highest in India. In Apr-June AP spent 72,719Cr to run the govt against 46,112 Cr revenue

No major real estate development should be allowed in the Western parts of Coimbatore suburbs. They are highly eco-sensitive elephant habitats. Coimbatore should grow only eastward (incl North-east and South East). Let there be Coimbatore-Tiruppur twin city development region.

Four countries have Tamil language scripts in their currency (Sri Lanka, Mauritius, Singapore, & India). Sri Lanka has most words in Tamil. For a historical reason, Mauritius gives importance to Tamil in currency, the only one with Tamil numbers, Tamils form just 6% of Mauritius

#TamilNadu is known for high gradient slope hills, where hill altitude will raise high from the flat surrounding terrain. Thats why, state has so many hair-pin bend ghat roads. Yelagiri is one of them, within 1.2km its height raise from 1350ft to 3510ft, looks like a stage 1/2

Pallikarani basin has 231sqkm of catchment area with many regions close to sea level, few below sea level. In the east, borders a raised landmass. It has only one outflow-Okkiyam Medu. During heavy rain, it will form largest dam in North TN. I can't find any natural solution 1/4
