This is *a lot* of infantry bunched up behind a single tank.
When there is so much rubble to exploit for cover, use it. Tanks attract fire and ricochets are a very real danger. Conga lines of infantry are incredibly vulnerable.

This is excellent!
- Great use of the building for covered approach and elevation.
- Use of the chimney for cover & partial concealment.
- Skylined on the roof, but reduced risk by having sun directly behind making shooter hard to see/engage.

Through wall effects are incredibly important to consider, even if we can't represent them.
Good example of some of the challenges of Air Assault in complex, urban terrain.
1. Note the small airframes needed to access narrow spaces (the Blackhawks *just* fit between the street lights).
These also need to be in sufficient numbers to allow insertion of larger elements 1/3
Excellent video showing the challenges of operating tanks in urban terrain. Yes, they can crash through walls (possibly altering gun zero), but all the clutter further constrains visibility and debris can damage optics, antennas and APS modules.

Yes!
Dismounted firepower shouldn't be an afterthought. It reduces reliance on joint fires (with resulting collateral damage & complex C2), improves tempo & isn't that hard.
We have/getting the systems to leverage (GL/CG), but we need to invest in the flexible munitions.
Ahead of the Loitering Munitions are the Sections equipped with an increased number of adaptable 40mm M320 and optionally accompanied by the Platoon-level Carl Gustaf with anti-structure, HEAT and vicious airbursting rounds.

We need to be careful about jumping on the new "cool tech" train.
Loitering munitions fascinate with kill-cam footage, but what's delivering more effect is non-exploding ISTAR UAS directing rockets/arty/missiles.

Some of this can be offset by fast roping from larger airframes, reducing the need to fit into narrow spaces &/or find uncluttered zones. This also opens up access onto roofs giving more options.

Engineers come under fire & have to conduct a hasty building assault & clearance.
A reminder of why training for
#urbanwarfare
should be taken seriously by *all soldiers* & not just an infantry skillset. The nature of the urban terrain can see anyone engaged in an firefight.
The IDF says "fierce battles" are taking place between troops and Hamas operatives in the Gaza Strip in the last few hours.
It also publishes footage of troops of the Combat Engineering Corps' 601st Battalion battling Hamas operatives who opened fire at them from a building…
This shows part of the reason why armour is actually *more* survivable in
#urbanwarfare
, contrary to misconceptions.
Firing from partial cover & short engagement ranges = less exposed and (generally) exposed to fewer & less capable anti-armour systems.

Situational awareness in complex terrain is hard. This video shows the benefit of UAS operators assisting junior leaders in their close fight. Routes, cover, enemy locs & QRFs, etc.
This the "Systems Operator" role being trialled by the 🇬🇧 Army's ETG ⬇️
